How to Style Emo/Scene Hair.
75The Basics
"Emo" and "Scene" hair cuts are pretty much the same exact style, the main difference between an emo kid and a scene kid lies in the way they behave and dress, not the way the hair is designed. The main goal of these hair cuts is to uncover an original hair style that has the beholders own personal touch to it.
You can fallow these steps to achieve your desired hair cut, and feel free to add things that express who you are:
- Dye the entirety or your hair a dark color such as black, or a rich brown so any highlights you choose to put in will stand out even more so. If you do not want to dye your hair darker, you can achieve the same effect by dyeing it a bleach blond.
- Once you have dyed your hair to your preferred color, cut your hair in long layers on bottom, and shorter; choppy layers about half way up your head. An alternative to this is if you have shorter hair, than thin and razor it out and cut your hair so your bangs swoop over one of your eyes.
- Now that the cutting is done, you can add in what ever colors suit your mood. If you have dark hair you could add streaks of bleach blond or vise versa if you have light hair. You can also add what ever colors of the rainbow you would like, but do this in moderation because a little goes a long way. (A good place to buy colored hair dye, is Hot Topic.) http://www.hottopic.com/hottopic/index.jsp
- Now that you have your hair cut and colored, I'm betting your main question would be, how do I style this mess? Well start by straitening your hair, preferably with a straitening iron because chemically straitening your hair is expensive and could be damaging to your hair. Make sure not to set your straitening iron too hot, because the extreme heat could also damage your hair, 350 degrees is about good. Now brush your hair so one part is over one of your eyes, and the other is off to the side, this will frame your face (and hey maybe it will make you appear slimmer too!) Hold all of your hair together with a good styling gel or hair spray, and for the most adventurous emo/scene kid, you can tease your hair! There are many special combs for teasing your hair, but you don't necessarily have to buy them, all you need is a regular toothed comb and some hair spray.
To tease your hair, take one of your top layers and back comb the bottom near the roots. Then spray a little hair spray on it and your done. Do this all around our head, as random as you can to achieve an authentic emo look.
Oh wow, I'm sure your all emoed out, but heres a surprise... that was only the girls styles! WOOHOO! OK, so for guys, the first step is the same, and the second (assuming you have hair that isn't shaved, but is grown out to about you neck.) The only difference with the second step is that you wouldn't have as many layers. The third step is also the same, and the fourth step for you guys would be to swoosh your hair across your face, if you have curly hair then straiten it! Guys teasing your hair would make you look like a girls, I'm sorry. OH! and there is another style that you could try guys, and i will add that in my videos, is called a gun shoot wound.
