The Most Effective Self Defense Move You Should Practice
40The Most Practical Self-Defense Move You Should Practice
A lot of people come to me wanting to know the most useful self-defense techniques. Truthfully, this question has no straightforward answer. The best answer I can give them is that the best self-defense technique available is the one that works in the situation. Every situation is unique. This means that there is no guaranteed-to-work-in-every-situation technique. Depending on the situation, you should learn to adapt your techniques to what will work. With that, here are a few of the most useful techniques.
One of the best ones available, and almost everyone knows it, is a simple kick to the groin. It's taught by every self-defense instructor, and for good reason. Any man kicked in the groin will not remain standing. A good kick will put him out for a minute or two, giving you plenty of time to escape.
An eye jab is another widely used technique. Eye jabs are great, because for one, it's unexpected, 2) it's a very fast attack, and 3) you're hitting a very soft, critical, delicate target with a very hard target, the tip of your fingertips. Our main purpose with the eye jab is not to blind the attacker, however. It simply causes their eyes to water and blurs their vision, momentarily distracting them. And that's all you need to get away. It only takes a few seconds to hit them in eye, and once you do this just follow up with maybe giving them a quick elbow or knee to the head, and then make your escape.
A face slap is also a good technique to use. A lot of people don't know about this one because they like to throw their punches, but really, a slap to the face can be very effective. Now, you're probably thinking of the kind of slap a girl usually hits a guy with for doing something wrong. However, the goal with this slap is actually to push with your hand like you're attempting to drive a nail through a board using your hand. You want to keep that in mind when doing a slap. You will have plenty of time to follow up with another move because a slap like this to someone's ear can really hurt them. This will make them very dizzy and disoriented, and they will not be able to recover quickly.
These are a few of the most useful self-defense techniques out there, but none will work in every possibly situation. You need to have a lot of different techniques at your disposal so that you can adjust and be adaptable to any situation that you may come against.
