Engagement Party Planning: Don't Just Get Drunk

One of the most memorable parties to celebrate is the engagement party. There are several different parties to plan when you have upcoming nuptials. Traditionally, there’s the bridal shower where you and your bridesmaids have the chance to celebrate together. Another one is the bachelorette party which is an all out celebration of your last day as a single woman.

But you can’t forget that the engagement party is really an important event because it announces the bride and groom’s official engagement to their family and friends. Here are some tips for how to plan an engagement party that is about more than getting drunk!

Engagement Party Favors

When planning for an engagement party one of the things that you must keep in mind are the engagement party favors. Your engagement party favors should enclose a declaration about the fact that you are engaged together with the date of the wedding if it has already been decided on so that people can start marking their calendars. The earlier you publicize a date, the better chance you will get a fine amount of RSVPs.

The engagement party favors could correspond to your wedding favors. For example, at your engagement party you can give everyone a small locked box with a gift inside. They will not be able to open the lock until they get their corresponding wedding favors in the form of keys. The gift inside of the box can be anything from jewelry, to a gift card, to a special message to your gift.

Whatever your gift is, make sure it is good because you will have your guests waiting and anticipating for your wedding date based on these mysterious gifts. Creating an interest and a sense of inquisitiveness in your guests is one of the key points in planning an engagement party that will be truly unforgettable.

Buy Every Woman A Ring

Whenever an engagement party is held, it can bring out envy to your bridesmaids and friends especially if the engagement ring is shown off by the bride-to-be. Instead of lavishing yourself in the luxury of having a new diamond, share the bliss of being engaged with your closest female friends by also giving them a small token of your friendship and trust. In this case, size doesn’t really matter; it’s the thought that counts. It could be a necklace, a bracelet, or some other impressive piece of jewelry. You can give a message to say something to the effect of "May these gifts symbolize our continued commitment, even in the event of my marriage." Thinking of yourself only is no way to plan a successful engagement party.

Have Everyone Speak

At the engagement party, have everyone in attendance say something. This will make your engagement party event more interactive and exciting. Some guests may be a little hesitant if they are anxious of public speaking, but others will lavish in the attention.

Generally, you must put in mind that your guests are vital when learning how to plan an engagement party. Provide them with engagement party favors, and other items they will treasure and for which they will be truly grateful.
