English Bulldogs Health
English Bulldogs are very sensitive to temperature which may result to heat stroke when exposed to high temperature above 90 degrees. Hence, when you are considering to take them out for a walk during summer, be sure to give them a short bath and plenty of water to drink; and limit their time of exposure to high temperature.
On the other hand, English Bulldog puppies can easily catch cold during winter or cold season, especially when the temperature is below 60 degrees. It is best to warm them during this time by giving them blanket or let them wear sweaters.
Be aware that English Bulldogs have some general health issues depending on the type of breed. They are highly prone to digestive problems, eye problems like cherry eye or dry eye, elbow dysplasia, internalized tail, interdigital cysts, and some allergies and skin problems. It is best to have them regularly checked with their veterinarian.

Taking Care of English Bulldog
- Feeding: For English Bulldog puppies, feed them 3 times daily; reduce to twice daily when they are 6 to 12 months old; after that, you may feed them once or twice daily. Just make sure to provide ample supply of drinking water.
- Dog Food: As with human, you need to check the nutritional value of the dog food you are feeding them because low quality dog food may also result to poor health.
- Grooming: English bulldogs need to be regularly groomed for proper hygiene to ensure good health. Special care must be done when your English bulldog has wrinkles-clean wrinkles several times per week. You may use petroleum jelly when cleaning the wrinkles.
- Bathing- Your pet needs to be given dog bath especially during summer time to cool down high body temperature. However, english bulldogs possess oils for their skin, constant bathing washes the oil and disrupt normal body defense mechanism; hence, it is recommended to give no more than 5 dog bath per year.
- Provide English Bulldog puppies with some chew toys during their teething stage.
- Diarrhea- In the event that your English Bulldog catches diarrhea, don't give dog food for 12 hours. Consult your veterinarian if symptoms persist.
