Ideas for entertaining children at a kids party.

As a mother to a 4 &1/2 year old, I have experience in making sure all the kids that attend my daughter's party are entertained. I always make it a point to provide things that will engage children so they aren't bored or excluded.

I always make sure to make goodie bags to give to all the children towards the end of the party or when they leave. But they can be given whenever you feel it is the right time. These goodies can consist of: candy, stickers, toy bracelets, bubbles, activity book, small toy animals, noisemakers, etc.

Balloons are another big hit at the parties I've given. Almost all the children wanted a balloon to take home or wear on their wrist during the party.

For my daughter's 3rd birthday, I hired a face painter to paint the children's faces. This was a huge hit!

During the party is when the kids are usually playing and getting to know other guests. If this is an outdoor party then I always provide: Frisbee's, jump ropes, chalk, kickball and always bubbles. If finances allow, a jump house provides HOURS of entertainment for children. I usually have a bubble machine that blows tons of bubbles and the kids love to run through them and pop them, you'll hear lots of giggles.

If the party is mainly indoors due to weather or personal preferences then crafts can be provided at a table for the kids to do together such as decorating masks, making cards, coloring, etc. There are so many crafts available for children and can be found at stores such as: Michaels, Wishing Well, Party City, Party America and Oriental Trading. Even Target and Walmart provide simple crafts for children. Choose whatever you think is suitable for the age group and gender that will be at the party.

I hope your parties turn out great and memorable! ~ Ali
