For beginning left handed guitarists on a budget, the Epiphone  left handed standard guitar is an excellent selection. The Epiphone left handed line of guitars is extraordinary for the price. In addition, a Les Paul left hand instrument is no different from a right handed guitar except for the orientation.

If you haven’t heard of Epiphone before, here’s a little history.

Originally founded by Greek luthier Anastasios Stathopoulos in 1873. The company was Gibson’s main rival in archtops which were actually as good or better than Gibson’s line of the same. After WW2, economical circumstances allowed Gibson to simply absorb Epiphone. The name Epiphone is a mix of the proprietor’s first name, Epaminondas, and the word epihone which is Greek for a voice.

So as you can see, quality has always been a trademark of Epiphone. I personally own an Epiphone Les Paul Special that was built with a Gibson neck. I love it and use it all the time for gigs and just jamming.

Now on to the Les Paul left hand guitar.

Epiphone Les Paul left handed guitars have kept the same materials and workmanship as their Gibson cousins. Available in all the classic finishes and sporting the same superior electronics, these are wonders to behold. It is important that the switches and controls be oriented to the Les Paul left player, so the design was flipped over and re-made so that was the case.

Many beginning musicians have started their careers by playing an Epiphone left Les Paul left Standard. Playing a Les Paul left is probably the next best thing to playing a Gibson Les Paul left. The price makes the LP lefty available to everyone. Epiphone has taken care to recreate all of Gibson’s Les Paul Standard so the player has a genuine Les Paul playing experience.

The Epiphone Les Paul left Standard is among Epiphone’s most popular left handed designs. Outstanding tone woods (Mahogany/Alder body) joined with quality hum bucking pickups make the Epiphone left extremely impressive as well as a great monetary. The higher registers remain bright. In the mid-ranges, the tone produced is a signature, smooth sustain with ample note separation. The sound is never lost in the transfer from string to wood to amp.

If you are after hot jazz tones, just switch to the neck position pickup and you’re there. Then if you want to get crunchy, switch on the neck and bridge position pickups and you can get as dark as you want. The master tone and volume controls provide you with an army of tone at your command.

The Les Paul left is available in all the same as the Gibson lines. Select the classic Sunburst or an Ebony black finish if you like.
