As the title states, Eve Plumb portrayed Jan Brady on the classic television show The Brady Bunch. However, starring as a Brady wasn’t Eve’s first taste of show business; not by a long shot. Between 1967 and 1969 (the year she started Brady), Plumb guest starred on several television shows. In fact, she landed her first gig in 1967 in a made-for-TV movie version of Dick Tracy. After that, she guest starred on The Big Valley, The Virginian, It Takes a Thief, Family Affair, Lancer, and Gunsmoke (one of my dad’s favorite shows).

Plumb portrayed Jan Brady, the middle sister, between 1969 and 1974. During that time, she also starred in The ABC Saturday Superstar Movie as her character from The Brady Bunch, as well as provided Jan’s voice on the animated show The Brady Kids.

She would also go on to reprise her Brady role in The Brady Girls Get Married, a made-for-television movie; The Brady Brides, a short lived spin-off; A Very Brady Christmas, another made-for-TV movie; and then The Bradys, yet another spin-off. The Bradys aired in 1990 (for less than one season) and followed the lives of the now-extended Brady family.

Do you think that Eve Plumb hates the character of Jan Brady yet?

Eve’s career outside of the Brady Bunch consisted mostly of guest spots on television shows, but she’s been in some movies as well. Her most notable TV appearances were on Wonder Woman, Fantasy Island, The Love Boat, The Facts of Life, Murder She Wrote, Lois & Clark, and That 70s Show. She made more appearances as well, but on lesser known shows. Film-wise, she starred in I’m Gonna Git You Sucka, Nowhere, Breast Men, Kill the Man, and more.

Check out this footage from Dawn: Portrait of a Teenage Runaway, a made-for-TV movie she had the lead role in in 1976.

Jan was the only character on the show that had any personality.
