The first step to achieving a washboard flat stomach, is to ask yourself "Why do I want to make my flat stomach dreams a reality?"

Although you may already have many reasons in place, they are most probably about your physical appearance. While your appearance is important, in my opinion there is a much more important reason. Excess stomach fat can pose a serious health risk. Did you know that belly fat largely increases your risk for a heart attack, regardless of your age? Anyone, at any age, with excess stomach fat is at risk of a heart attack. Isn't that a much greater motivation than your appearance?

Now that you have some motivation in place, let's start with making that dream a reality!

To make flat stomach dreams a reality you will have to follow a carefully planned, step by step approach to losing that dangerous belly fat.



Step 1: Set goals that you are in control off

Having your reasons for losing your belly fat in mind, list them on a piece of paper in order of importance.

I would list putting me at risk of a heart attack as reason number one and to look stunning in my bikini as reason number two.

The next step is to set yourself some goals to make your dreams a reality. When setting goals, it's important to only make goals that you are capable of achieving. Goals that are out of your control will only frustrate you along the way and your dream will be lingering far away.



Step 2: Spend your exercise time doing the correct types of exercise

If you waste your exercise time on the wrong exercises you will end up being frustrated and still have the pot belly you want so badly to get rid of. With all the loads of different exercises to do and all the information available these days, how do you know that exercise combination will help you lose your belly fat?

The best exercise by far to burn fat is weight training. This is because weight training builds muscle and this building of muscles makes your body burn kilojoules, even in your sleep.



Step 3: Eat the right things, at the right time

Your diet plays a big role in the size of your tummy. Knowing what foods will help you achieve your goals is thus very important for losing that tummy fat. There are various food available that you can snack on freely and some of then even take more calories to digest than they contain. Some of the best flat tummy food you can include in your diet today are:

  • Almonds
  • Beans
  • Spinach and other green vegetables
  • Turkey and other lean, white meats (like chicken)


The result

If you incorporate the above steps into your daily life, your pot belly is bound to shrink and your dreams will become a reality sooner than you think.
