Many people today are looking towards Facebook, MySpace and other large web 2.0 communities for their network marketing. It's a smart idea that can pay off with huge dividends if you know how to take advantage of these massive networks for your own network marketing business or plan. There are several different approaches you can take, and learning the benefits of both will enable you to get started immediately.

The Power Of Numbers

The first approach or strategy that a lot of people take when considering network marketing with Facebook and MySpace is the power of numbers. When you establish a presence on a massive community such as Facebook or MySpace, you are giving yourself and your business easy access to not just hundreds, not just thousands, but literally hundreds of millions of different people spread across the country and the globe.

Even being able to effectively reach only a tiny portion of this astronomically large group will raise the number of prospects and customers you have by a huge degree. The amount of exposure you receive will be invaluable to you and your business. Plus, many of these people are ones that you would never have been able to reach before. Facebook and MySpace are particularly strong in young adult and technologically savvy demographics, and you can make serious headway by reaching out to them in such large numbers.

Quality Vs. Quantity

The second main approach towards network marketing with MySpace and Facebook is that quality is more important than quantity, and that relationship building should be your primary concern. Unlike nearly any other avenue in the history of marketing and promotion, with these massive social networks you have the ability to show the world and your prospects who you are, what you're about and why they should care.

People can read up on your interests, your passions and get a sense for your experience, success and drive. You can quickly add friends to your list, exchange messages about common interests and work on building strong, long lasting relationships. You can form and join groups, leave people inspirational messages and stay up to date on all of the important events in their life. There is no other form of marketing and exposure that is interactive as this is, and the end result is that you can focus and hone your efforts in developing a few really strong, rock solid relationships.

Is one of these strategies better than the other? It depends on what your specific needs are. Are you looking to maximize your exposure and reach out to as many people as possible? Or are you looking to develop some really strong relationships, taking advantage of the unique, interactive medium of the web 2.0 world? The great thing is that these goals don't have to be mutually exclusive. In fact, to maximize your success they shouldn't be.

How To Use Both Approaches To Your Advantage

The truth is that both of these approaches to network marketing can be successful. Using Facebook and MySpace of course opens up the doors to a huge number of people and prospects, and you should take advantage of that to reach out to as many people as possible, generate some word of mouth and buzz and increase your exposure. Additionally, you'll also have an easy platform from which you can share experiences, form relationships and build bonds. In this way, you can quickly establish high quality relationships and connections that will continue to make a difference for you and your business for years to come.

Applying both of these tactics at the best time will offer the best of both worlds. You will have the unlimited potential of tapping into networks with hundreds of millions of people and you'll have the opportunity to quickly form strong relationships and connections.

At the end of the day, increasing your reach and forming those bonds is what network marketing is all about. You won't have a better opportunity to do just that than you do with Facebook and MySpace. The scope of their reach and the potential for interaction and bonding is unheard of in the world of network marketing and business. So whether you are just getting started for the first time or you're looking for a boost to get you to the next level or move you past a plateau, then consider using Facebook and MySpace for your networking marketing.

You're so right Kevin. It's all about increasing your reach and giving value without expectations. And there's no better place to start than with Facebook or MySpace. One has to steadfast in their approach and consistent in over-delivering value.

One thing I find with Social Media is the need to schedule your activity into your daily business plan.

Only when I am interacting with my new friends, or reaching out to others, do I feel that there is relationship happening from which to build on.

It is also easy to come to the end of the week and realize that social media connections didn't happen because it was overlooked.

I agree Kevin, that we have a huge audience to connect with, it takes consistent activity/presence there to gain results.

Kevin: You are so right - it's about "numbers" but it is also about "relationships". Social media can help increase your exposure, but then it is up to you to provide value and build a relationship.

When social media sites like Facebook and Myspace come up in discussions about business building I am always reminded of the 2nd of the Five Laws of Stratospheric Success illustrated in the book "The Go Giver"...

"The Law of compensation... Your income is determined by how many people you serve and how well you serve them."

Are there any better sites to reach out and help a larger number of people than Facebook and Myspace?

If you want to build your network marketing business online join social media sites like this then...

Sally forth and help folks!

Kevin,

You’ve certainly shown the value of using Facebook and MySpace. I agree with the strategies you suggest.

I feel that using these two strategies is a process. Success will not happen overnight. But following one or both strategies can lead to success.

Great article, Kevin!
