Famous Quotes About Cats

“If man could be crossed with the cat, it would improve man but deteriorate the cat.” – Mark Twain
I wonder what a cat crossed with a man would be like? Would they still cover their pee and poo every time they used the litter box? Would they be as patient? Would they still have superb balance, grace, and agility?
“There are two means of refuge from the miseries of life: music and cats.” – Albert Schweitzer
I totally agree with this. Music and cats have kept me sane during the darkest periods of my life. There's something about a cat's purr that relaxes me and uplifts my soul.
"Thousands of years ago, cats were worshipped as gods. Cats have never forgotten this." – Anonymous
This is proof that cats are smarter than humans. They acknowledge and accept their divinity.
"I have studied many philosophers and many cats. The wisdom of cats is infinitely superior." – Hippolyte Taine
Coming from a famous critic and historian, I would say there is much truth to this.
"Cats seem to go on the principle that it never does any harm to ask for what you want." – Joseph Wood Krutch
And we, humans, would do well if we did the same!
"There are many intelligent species in the universe. They are all owned by cats." – Anonymous
Well, at least we're intelligent.
"A meow massages the heart." – Stuart McMillan
Yes, it does. So does a cat's purr, a light touch of its paw, or its warm body snuggled next to you.
“The smallest feline is a masterpiece.” – Leonardo Da Vinci
From its piercing eyes and delicate whiskers to its killer claws, a cat is indeed a work of art.
"The cat has too much spirit to have no heart." – Ernest Menaul
Who said cats have no heart? They have more heart than most people will ever have.
"Dogs believe they are human. Cats believe they are God." – Unknown
Cats believe they are gods and that makes them all the better.
"Time spent with cats is never wasted." – Colette
I could spend an entire day with cats and never get tired or bored. In fact, I recharge my batteries by playing with and simply being with my cats.
"As every cat owner knows, nobody owns a cat." – Ellen Perry Berkeley
Oh, yes. We don't own a cat, the cat merely allowed itself to be taken cared of by humans.
"Dogs come when they're called; cats take a message and get back to you later." – Mary Bly
This one I would have to disagree with. My three cats come running when I call them.
"Cats are smarter than dogs. You can't get eight cats to pull a sled through snow." – Jeff Valdez
Of course! Why would they pull a sled through snow when they can simply rub against our legs and we pick them up and carry them through the snow!
"With their qualities of cleanliness, discretion, affection, patience, dignity, and courage, how many of us, I ask you, would be capable of becoming cats?"
Fernand Mery, in Her Majesty the Cat
I would like to try and find out. If I could be a cat for one day...

You're lucky Sophie is such a considerate owner, Teresa! :D My cats sleep under the blanket with me and they wake me up really early every day. Well, they try. I've learned to sleep through the bouncing and the poking and nibbling... :D
You missed one of my favorites:
"One is never sure, watching two cats washing each other, whether it's affection, the taste or a trial run for the jugular."- Helen Thomson
Congratulations on the 100
Thanks, Ron. :)
Ultimate pics..I hav 2 kittans..at my home I love ..my Browny & Blacky...
thanks..
Hi, apeshka. There are more of those funny LOLCat pics at icanhascheezburger.com. I have a "laugh-fest" everytime I visit that site. :D
hi Susan,
A fellow cat lover! This was adorable! I love your choice of photos, they cracked me up :)
I have two cats, Sasha and Krisy. Sasha is 17 yrs old and Krisy is about 5 or 6. Sasha is my lap kitty, while Krisy, on the other hand, hates being held. But, she does love being petted and snuggling up next to me when I lie in bed. Sasha is a black and white cat, rather petite, while Krisy is a fatso, gray and tan. She has to weigh at least 12 lbs. Hard to know since she won't let me hold her long enough to weigh her :)
I'll have to check out the site you mention.
Thanks for sharing.
Wow, your cats have been with you for a long time. Mine just turned one year old this year. :) All three of them wriggle their way under my blanket at night; I wake up flanked by soft warm furry bodies, or more accurately, I wake up with soft warm furry bodies bouncing around under the covers. :)
Yes, do take a look at that site. I would recommend it to all cat lovers everywhere. :)
I like cats, but not as much as you. Very true quotes. Fun hub. Haven't had a cat in years and much relieved, because I love to read books, and cats love to sit on my books. It's not mutually beneficial! :-)
Whoops, double clicked. Maybe that will bring your hub back to a 100 again, (I think there should be a rule that once you achieve that, it should stay there).
Haha! One of my cats meows and rubs against my leg when I'm sitting in front of the computer until I stand up to try to pet him, then he hops up on my chair and goes to sleep! I swear, cats do believe they are gods. Hehe.
A perpetual score of 100 would eventually get boring though, wouldn't it? :D
LOL love the pics, though I grew up in a family of dog lovers I've always wanted to have a cat when I was a kid.
I grew up in a family that liked dogs better than cats, too. I do like dogs, but not as much as cats. :)
Smart are those that recognise the superiority of cats! :)
Is that an excerpt from the Bible, Feline Prophet? Heehee... :D
I loved these cat quotes soo much!! Many a true word said in jest!!
I would love to be a cat for a day, or maybe a kitten and just play all day long!!:)
If we could be kittens for a day, compu-smart, I'd share my cardboard box with you! Haha! :D Glad to have found another cat lover. :)
"The cat has too much spirit to have no heart." – Ernest Menaul
Who said cats have no heart? They have more heart than most people will ever have.
But not as big a heart as the Captain moi friend ; )
Right on, BadCo! Cats have the purest of hearts too, well, except for the Captain. Hehe. :P
But does the Captain get his belly tickled lol, later my friend ; )
I love cats so very much. I loved this hub, too, with a lot of chuckles. The quotes, and all that you said, were so very true. Great photos, also! When I got to the last photo, it took me a couple of seconds to figure out what it meant; and then I went, oh, aha! The fear of black cats thing! Uggh. I wish they'd give back to black cats their true regal standing.
I have known many cats and loved them dearly, but none of them were actually my own cats, for various reasons, usually concerning having to move around a lot and not being able to keep cats in apartments. One of the cats that I knew the longest was my roommate's cat. We raised this cat from birth. I felt like I was its mother. Since I had never been a mother, this was an interesting experience for me. This cat didn't like to hang around the house much; but when he was around, I got to enjoy his sweet company.
One of my favorite cats belonged to a neighbor. I spent a lot of time with this cat when his owner was at work, but I didn't know the owner at all. Then one day he decided to move, and I loved this cat so much that I said I'd like to buy her. He said no way, she was like his child and he'd had her since she was tiny. I've missed her ever since.
Oh, and my most favorite cat of all lived where I lived and worked, at a healing spa resort. We became best buddies for many years. He was one of those cats who don't mind snuggling a lot and being held and picked up. He'd jump up onto my chair and sit in my lap for a long time as I petted him. He was very affectionate and could hang out with me for hours sometimes, just content and purring. One day he disappeared and never came back. I've wanted him back ever since. He was the best cat.
Someday I will be able to have a cat of my own. I plan to get at least two cats, maybe more.
On another writer web site, I wrote an article about how to properly care for and treat cats. That web site doesn't allow writers to republish their articles onto other web sites, unfortunately. So, you've gotten me to thinking now that I need to write something new about cats on HubPages.
I'm looking forward to reading more of your hubs soon.
Hi, Maraiya. It's really nice to meet another cat lover. :)
Cats have a way of creeping into your heart and latching on, don't they? I have three cats, but I had originally planned to adopt only one. I couldn't pick one among the three siblings so I adopted them all! :D
I hope you have your cats one day soon. :)

Wonderful. Yes -- a cat is my owner, her name is Sophie, and some days she lets me sleep late. . .
