Tollywood or the Telugu Film Industry produces largest number of films in India. Many of Telugu films are remade into other languages like Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannda etc. Earlier Telugu films were based on Mythological stories. But current films are more on action and glamour. Because of the glamour content, Telugu has given us lot of glamorous hot girls to be included in our list of 101.
Tamil films are very popular - as par with Hindi films. Tamil film industry is also called Kollywood, as this is based in Kodambakkam near Chennai. The popularity of the Tamil films can be attributed to the fact that a large Tamil speaking population is spread across the globe - in Sri Lanka, Singapore, Malaysia, besides India. Now Tamil films are popular in other countries too, like South Africa, Canada, USA, UK and surprising in Japan too after mega success.
Back in India, Tamil films are keenly watched in neighboring states like, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala. Simran dominated the Tamil film world until recently till 2003 along with other hot and popular heroines Kushboo, Meena, Roja, Rambha Jyothika etc. But in my listing they have taken back seat. Current favorites are Nayanthara, Sneha, Trisha Krishnan, Asin, Sadha, Namitha and alike - and soon you will find their profile in my hubpages of 101heroins.
