Faux Suede Headboards

Suede is an ideal fabric for the bedroom.  Suede has a calming effect in any color.  It smells relaxing and feels comforting.  These qualities make suede a logical material for the bedroom.  Unfortunately, real suede is not practical and can be costly.  Faux suede is a practical alternative and makes a good headboard component.

A Matter of Choice

The bedroom can and should be the most comfortable room in the house.  No matter what the theme of the bedroom is, the bed is the piece of furniture that gets the most attention.  Even if the walls are covered with pictures, the bed remains the focal point of the room.  The décor and color scheme are a matter of personal taste.  Some people prefer a bedroom to be a personal sanctuary that promotes rest and relaxation.  Others prefer that the room be a reflection of themselves, which may mean vibrant colors and furnishings that are less conservative.  Whatever the style, a faux suede headboard can add comfort while matching with the room’s décor.

Color and Style for Every Personality

English or French Country styles call for a lighter faux suede headboard.  Light brown or tan to match the drapes and carpeting work well with this style.  Other light colored earthy tones will also go well.

For the master bedroom, a faux suede headboard in a dark neutral color is suitable.  The faux suede will soften the room without looking feminine.  Choose a simple style headboard with a shade that close in color to the furnishings for a mature, distinguished look.  A faux suede headboard also lends itself well to the American Southwest style.

If you are looking for a theme of tranquility, beige or another light faux suede looks good against contrasting sheets in a deep color.  Pale blues and greens are soothing and add a splash of color to any room.  Suede can be dyed to any color, so you are not limited in your choices.  Get some fabric swatches to take home to see what colors work best with your décor.  Consider the colors of bed coverings and drapes if you are choosing a color over a neutral tone.

To add drama and energy to an otherwise lifeless room, choose bold colors for your faux suede.  A deep purple, electric blue, bright red or orange will also dazzle the eye.  If you want like to return to a theme of the 9160s or 1970s, you can add accessories reminiscent of that era, such as beaded curtains or hounds tooth patterned curtains or bed coverings.  Using mismatched items that tie in with a theme personalizes a room and truly makes it your own.  Choose a theme that reflects you own likes and follow your ideas.

No matter what type of spirit you have, there is a faux suede headboard to match.  Remember that it is your room and you are the one who has to feel comfortable in it.
