Why Do I Feel So Green?

Hello everyone,

If you read my previous hub, Better Life Ahead, you know that I work from home, and that decided to start my own homebased business because of my children. My boys, especially my preemie, are the reasons that I am feeling so green. I purchase green products for my home now instead of the more hazardous brands that I previously used. Let me tell you, they are awesome products! I was never interested in the green movement or concerned with being environmentally aware until Marshall was born almost two months early. I wanted to take every precaution I could to ensure his safety in my home. I thought going green would be a challenge for me because I thought it would cost too much money and wouldn't be as good as my chemicals. Well, I did some research on the internet on some of the ingredients in the products I have used. The findings terrified me! The one thing that frightened me the most was that a name brand, number selling, baby shampoo had formaldahyde in it!!! You wouldn't know it by looking on the back of the bottle because it is under a different name. Unfourtunately for us, the consumers, the manufactures have the right to use trade names to list ingredients. Well, here is the ingredient that may be found in your baby's shampoo or other products you use in your home: QUATERNIUM-15, search it. Why would manufactures think it is ok to give us something that the dead need? If you have the answer let me know. People use this to get high for God's sake!! Needless to say, my shampoo went to trash can and not on the heads of my babies.

Since I never used anything green before I put my bathroom cleaner to the test. I recently moved and the shower doors in my new place were so caked with soap scum. Previously I tried a name brand product, and it did not work. I sprayed the doors several times, and let the product sit. Nothing. The soap scum did not budge, and the smell was making my head hurt. I had given up and was resolved to get a shower curtain to cover up the monstrousity of a door. Well, three weeks later when I got my new products I closed myself in the shower and sprayed it down. The soap scum came right off! Not only that, the tub cleaner smelled really good! No headache! Now, had I closed myself in the shower with the product I was using before I wouldn't be able to write this hub because I'd be dead or at least suffering from some kind of brain damage. Trying green products is worth it to be safer for your family and the environment. I use a green brightner (repalces bleach), and it is great and doesn't have my clothes for a meal like bleach can.

I am currently in the process of converting my entire home, and I am very excited about doing it. Even my shampoo is green! LOL. I had amazing results from it on the first use. I have natural hair, and so I wanted to use products made from natural ingredients. I will be purchasing organic foods also. That part will be harder because I live in such a small town, but I will manage. I just can't put a price tag on my children's health and safety. Can you? Let's go people! Go Green!
