Feng Shui Living Room Decorating
61Feng shui is based on the principle of Chi or positive life force and allows the free flow of energy throughout the living room that is positive. For this, the design of the living room is crucial. In a living room, arranged on the feng shui principle, you have to arrange the sofa set or couch or divan or the seating arrangement carefully. The backs of the people should never be turned towards the door; rather they should face the door or at least be able to see it.
Sharp corners or edges in furniture are to be avoided and therefore no square or triangular or rectangular shapes in furniture can be allowed into the living room. You have to opt for circular or octagonal furniture. Since Chi stays away from dark nooks and crannies in the living room, you have no option but to illuminate the dark corners of your living room with the help of different designer lightings or mirrors or plants or accent pieces or small stone fountains that are equipped with light.
However, when you are thinking of incorporating indoor plants to lift the decor of your living room, avoid dry flowers and straight plants with thorns and cacti at all costs for they will block the flow of Chi. Plants should have rounded leaves.
Do not keep a metal object or television in the centre of your living room. It is the fireplace that should ideally occupy the central position. The atmosphere inside the living room should always be relaxed and tranquil.
Do not place mirrors improperly for that will lead to the creation of negative energy instead of positive. Place the mirror in such a way that it reflects the door and makes the room appear more spacious and wider than it actually is.
Always ensure that there is no clutter or minimum clutter in your living room. The look should be neat, tidy, clean and refined. Chi doesn’t like garbage or clutter.
