Cate Blanchett began making a name for herself in the theater world soon after graduating from Australia's National Institute of Dramatic Art in 1992. Her first feature film was with Glenn Close and Frances McDormand in 1997's Paradise Road. That same year, while co-starring with Ralph Fiennes in Oscar and Lucinda, her performance caught the attention of director Shekhar Kapur, who immediately cast Blanchett as the Queen in Elizabeth. She made a lasting impression as the elf, Galadriel, in The Lord of the Rings. Her role in Martin Scorsese's The Aviator as Katharine Hepburn earned her an Oscar.

The Good German

The Good German (2006) is a feature film adaptation of the novel by Joseph Kanon. It was directed by Steven Soderbergh, and stars George Clooney, Cate Blanchett, and Tobey Maguire. The Aviator

The Aviator is an Academy Award-winning 2004 American biographical drama film, directed by Martin Scorsese. It tells the story of the eccentric aviation pioneer Howard Hughes, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, following his life from the late 1920s through the 1940s, a time when Hughes was directing and producing Hollywood movies as well as test-piloting his own groundbreaking new aircraft.

The Aviator also focuses on Hughes' romances with Hollywood stars like Katharine Hepburn (Cate Blanchett) and Ava Gardner (Beckinsale). Cate Blanchett won an Oscar for her portrayal Katherine Hepburn.

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou is Wes Anderson's fourth feature length film and was released in the U.S. on December 25, 2004. The offbeat comedy stars Bill Murray as Steve Zissou, an eccentric oceanographer. In this ensemble cast, Steve Zissou sets out to exact revenge on the "jaguar shark" that ate his partner Esteban.
