"Who do men say that I am? (Part 1)
77Many of us spend a life time in search for who we are and our purpose; why were we created? Some die never discovering the answers to these very important questions. How sad, for this was never the intention of our Heavenly Father, that His children would spend a lifetime searching for their reason for existence. The answer is fairly simple if we have ears to hear.
I am a forty nine year old wife, mother of four and grandmother of eleven. From the moment of my birthday, December 31, four years ago, I have been in deep contemplation about my life. It is probably not unusual to be in a place of deep introspection about one's life around this age. This seems to be the age that marks the middle of life. I started thinking about my existence up to this point. My mind began to go back to my earliest memories; my childhood, my early adulthood, my coming into maturity as an adult, up to the present. There appeared to be one thing that remained consistent; my search for my identity and my purpose. I know that I am not the only one that has been on this quest.
The beginning of 2004 caused me to intensify my pursuit. I made a statement in the mirror on my birthday; "Lord I want to accomplish all that you have for me to do, I want to hear you say, "Well done good and faithful servant." Now I have said these words before, many times, but this time they hit me like a slap in the face. Right after I made that statement/prayer, I begin to think about all the wasted years that I have searched in the quest to find out, who I am and what I was to do. How could I possibly accomplish all that God wanted me to do, if I didn't even know who I was? This brought a great desperation, which drove me to my knees and into the presence of God. Once again, after spending several months in prayer, God spoke to me as I was looking in the Mirror and He said to me, "Who do men say that I am?" This drove me to the dialog in scripture where Jesus was having conversation with his disciples. What I found out in the Rhema (living) Word began to change my life. If you have ever asked yourself the questions; who am I? What is my purpose? Follow me on this brief, but profound journey, you will discover as I did, the answers to your questions. Never again will you walk around marking time, but every step will be on purpose to your intended destiny.
Matthew 16:13-19
13 Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, He was asking His disciples, "Who do people say that the Son of Man is?" 14 And they said, "Some say John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; but still others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets." 15 He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" 16 Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." 17 And Jesus said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. 18 "I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My Church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it. 19 "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall be have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven."
Prayer:
Father I pray that as we take this journey of discovery together, at the end, we will have discovered who we are and our name will be changed. Letting the searching for ourselves come to an end!
Amen!

Very well done. I love the personal touch at the beginning of this hub. I believe all of us have to go through things before we can get to the place God wants us. Not because God can't do the job, but because we resist so much. I believe you will have another fan. ;)
Thank you for your support.
