Summer is just around the corner and it is time to start planning, planning those relaxed Saturday afternoons, those evening parties and the time of year to take it just a little easier than before. The sun is out, and so should be you, and when the sun is down, well, there is no reason to stop when its down, and that is exactly why you should have a fire pit.

Because a fire pit will not only cook for you, it can also create a very nice garden feature for the evening hours, you will find that its a lot of fun entertaining people when you got the fire pit going, even without some fancy barbecue action going on.

Large bricks or cinderblocks are good for making fire pits. The bricks should be wide as well. Big and flat bricks make sustaining inner walls for the fire pit. The larger the fire will be the more the number count of brick goes. The number of layers in the fire pit is a determinant of the number of cinderblocks or bricks.

A large round piece of metal sheet is another accessory. Any other non-flammable material can be a good substitute to metal sheets. This is needed for most households who do not have a large back yard to spare for large black spot left after cooking in the fire pit. The metal sheet placed under the fire pit saves the floor or surface from getting permanent black.

A mesh cover is useful to prevent burning embers from flying out of the fire pit. A nice mesh cover is very useful to prevent this. Along those lines, with varied sizes, dome mesh lids are available in home supply or home improvement stores. Round Grill Grate is another great fire pit accessory. It doubles the out door fire pit. The size of the round grill grate will be equal to the top of the fire pit. The different types of fire pit accessories discussed here are one of the basic ones and make most sense for home made fire pit lovers.
