The pros and cons
Pros of natural childbirth:
* little potential for harm or side effects for you or your baby.
* Sense of empowerment during labor and accomplishment afterward
* There's no loss of sensation or alertness.
* Your baby wont have to process the drugs that pass through the placenta
Cons:
* These techniques do not fully eliminate pain. If you do not deal well with pain, or if you have a complicated delivery, an epidural might be the answer for you.
* Lack of mental preparation in the case of an emergency c-section
* Natural childbirth is hard work that must be prepared for ahead of time.
* Some woman have complained about less sexual pleasure after normal birth.
* Many women experience pelvic floor dysfunction around the time of birth and/or later in life. Pelvic floor problems include leaking urine (urinary incontinence), leaking gas or - more rarely - feces (bowel incontinence), sexual dissatisfaction, and a sagging of the inner organs
* Enlarging the opening of the vagina by cutting it at the time of birth (episiotomy)
Pros of c-section:
* It can be life-saving when the mother and/or the baby are truly in distress.
* Your baby doesn’t have to go through the stress of natural childbirth.
* Much less pain to go through during this special time
Cons of c-section:
* The scar
* Stay in the hospital longer
* Feel sometimes less connected with your child, and you might have some issues with breastfeeding.
* Unforseen complications, especially with an emergency c-section
