What is a good first time motorcycle for a novice?
The first time motorcycle rider explained. Let's assume you want to ride your mototrcycle on the road.
A person who has never ridden a motorcycle should start with a bike of around 250cc's-350cc's. Reason being is that one needs to learn how to control their bike. These size bikes are a ot easier to control and to learn on then the real heavyweights. They should not be influenced by the glitz and glamour of the big bikes. The more power syndrome.
The first time rider after making a purchase should seek out an experienced rider who will show them the basics of how the machine works. How do I shift? How do I brake? You need to know and understand thee things before going out into traffic. The reason should be obvious. You don't want to wreck your new bike or injure yourself because you don't know where the brake is.
The new rider should also seek out a saftey course offered by many sellers of Bikes, such as Harley Davidson for example.
The new rider needs to proceed with caution as they are learning a new skill, and it is a skill. Take the time to really learn all controls and everything that is available to learn. They could peruse the magazine section of there local bookstore for motorcycle magazines and check the articles about riding. Once again the emphasis is on learning as much as one can. Knowledge is power!
I personally learned how to ride this way even before I picked up my first bike. It sure helped. I was quickly able to master the controls because I had knowledge floating around in my brain and more importantly I was able to use it to my advantage.
I wish you happy and fun times on your new bike crkirchoff!

Yes I would. That sounds like a good option to me. You should be able to find one which is low cost and still runs good. So if, heaven forbid, you happen to lay it over that you will not lose tons of good money on it. Really, if you have a friend who rides or has ridden, I would call upon their friendship to help you out. The class will certainly help you and should give you the right tools to hold in your mind while riding. Good Idea! Just remember these words...Take it easy...Have fun!!
For a begginer rider you have to take some precautions. I'm gonna link to your page. thnx

Thanks.
I'm going to take the two day class for sure, and my first bike certainly won't be a brand new Harley or BMW 1200GS. I know there are two kinds of riders: those who have fallen and those who will fall. The last thing I want is a brand new bike all scratched up.
Would you reccomend a Honda bike?
