Fish Tank Supplies
This Hub Page helps beginners with deciding what fish tank supplies they need for their aquarium.
A large part of maintaining a fish tank is to have the right kind of fish tank supplies available with you. Many of these supplies can very depending on what type of tank you have but here are the most common.
You will need a filter, every fish you get you will need a filtering unit. along with the filter are replacement filter cartridges, these are fairly cheap and make it allot easier to maintain your aquarium. Most filters are rated for whatever gallon's of water your tank holds so it should be easy to pick one out.
Next thing you'll need is a thermometer , these help to keep the tanks water at the correct temperature for the fish. water that is too hot or too cold can put allot of stress on the fish. so it's important to keep the water at a steady temperature.
Another thing to look for when your getting your fish tank supplies is a test kit these are essential with keeping your waters chemical level in balance. if the Ph, nitrate or ammonia levels are too high, the fish could get sick.
When you place the chemical strip in the water, it will show you if the chemicals are in normal balance. If not the chemical kit gives you solutions to drop into the water which then balance out the chemicals.
This saves you time and money having your own fish tank supplies vs bringing it to a pet care center to have the testing done.
Air pumps are an option, Fish like to play in the bubbles, it also provides a small amount of oxygen for the fish. most filters provide adequate oxygen for your fish but if you really want to make sure they have enough oxygen i would suggest getting a live plant, these provide more than enough oxygen for your fish.
For the proper fish cleaning supplies your tank you should have a bucket, rubber scrubber (for the glass), and a vacuum siphon type tube to suck up decaying fish waste and food from the gravel.
All the rest is your basic decorations, rocks, lights etc.
Having an aquarium is a wonderful addition to your home. They are easy to maintain and provide lots of enjoyment for family and friends. There are tons of different exotic fish species to choose from. I hope you enjoy whatever fish you choose.
