Tips on Finding The Best Home Gym for Fitness Strength Training

We all know the importance of Fitness Strength Training and that a regular workout is good for us, right? But doing it is often another story. It is so easy to find excuses for not going to the gym. Do any of these apply to you?

  • I would like to train early but: - it’s too hard to get up early, drive to the gym, get a good workout, have a shower, and get to work on time.
  • I would like to train on the way home after work but:  – I’m usually too tired to find the energy.
  • I would like to train during the day but: - I have small children at home who can’t be left alone.
  • I would like to train but: - any number of other reasons why you can’t……

Getting into regular weight training routines can be quite a challenge for a lot of people and making it a habit is often harder still. So what is the solution? I would suggest that you consider a home gym. It is convenient and can be very cost effective. Following are some points to consider in deciding on what would be the Best Home Gym for you.

Cost:
Joining a gym involves paying ongoing membership cost which often increases as time goes by. Setting up a home gym involves the once only cost of the equipment that you select for your workout. After that, it is free!

Home gym equipment can be expensive. A full fixed multi gym can cost in excess of $2.000. On the other hand there are excellent resistance training systems on the market that can give you a full body workout and that are very reasonably priced. And there are the inexpensive solutions such as a stability ball, a medicine ball, or bands to use in stretching. Cost is really not a valid excuse because you can get a good fitness strength training workout using just your body weight. The one important thing to keep in mind is that whatever equipment you chose, it needs to cater for cardio, strength training and flexibility training.

Floor Space:
One point to remember in deciding on equipment for your home gym is the floor space requirements. A heavy duty multi gym machine needs adequate floor space around the equipment itself. Allow at least a metre or more on all sides. This type of equipment is best suited to a home with a room that can be set aside specifically for the purpose of a home gym. If you don’t have that kind of space available, consider investing in equipment that can be packed and put away when not in use.

Portability:
The most obvious benefit of having a home gym is the convenience of being able to train whenever it suits your timetable. But what about your time table when you are away from home for a period of time? This could be business travel or holidays. It is so easy to get out of the good habit of maintaining regular weight training routines and find excuses not to go back to it again. The solution to this problem is to invest in a good but lightweight portable resistance training system. There are some excellent packages on the market that fit in a bag and that are light enough to take anywhere. These packages are often referred to as a “Gym in a Bag”.

So what is the Best Home Gym?
Whatever is the best for you! Would you like to lose weight and keep it off, gain weight, build muscle, stay fit? Whatever your goal, simply make sure that the equipment you select will be able to let you do a full body workout. For fitness and general good health you need to regularly do cardio, strength training and flexibility training. And don’t forget, you equipment needs to come with a set of easy to follow user guides and training videos that include plenty of choice to make your training enjoyable and varied. Without exercise variety you will plateau out and won’t be able to get ongoing benefits.
