When it comes to my flash drive, I carry with me everywhere. If I am at work, if I am at the grocery store or if I am just kicking back a beer at my best friend's house, I always have access to my flash drive. On my flash drive, I keep my important files I need between jobs plus the programs to ensure I have access to what I need while on the go. There are several must have flash drive programs I keep with me via the device that I think benefit everyone.

The first program is Firefox. I live for Firefox. It is on both my computers; it is tweaked out like nobody's business. If a computer does not have Firefox on it when I am out and about, I cringe. Firefox is the easiest way for me to browse the Internet, and it is also the most secure. Since I also test a lot of my copywriting and web design based on how it displays primarily in Firefox, it is essential I have this with me wherever I go when I need to pop in my flash drive and test drive a new page.

Next, is OpenOffice. While I prefer to use Microsoft Office, OpenOffice is a free alternative that suits me well on the go. Since the majority of my writing work is saved in rich-text format, this means I can seamlessly go from saving a document in Microsoft Office and open it to edit in OpenOffice.

Finally, Trillian rounds out my trifecta of must have software. Since I use AIM, Yahoo and MSN to keep in touch with those around me in the business world, it is essential I can log on if needed to communicate. The portable version of Trillian gives me the opportunity to sign in to all three services without having to boot up three different programs to do just that. Trillian has never let me down, whether it is on my PC at home, my notebook or flash drive.

There are many different types of software out there available for the flash drive. If these above ones do not seem appealing, chances are you can find versions that will work for you. Carrying around the programs you need to get your work done is essential if you have a flash drive you are using for business nowadays.
