Beautiful and colorful flower tattoos

While there are a number of exceptions, flower tattoos may be among the more colorful tattoos, as far as people going for having some color in it, rather than the black lines and general tribal look that can accompany other tattoo themes.

There's good reason for this, as flowers are made for color, and having at least some color in a flower tattoo is almost a must.

One thing great about designing and choosing what flower tattoo to have, is nature gives us an almost endless supply of ideas and combinations that makes it almost a surety that we'll find something to fit our desires.

Not only that, you add the vining flowers that can be scrolled across or up and down the body and you have a natural look, which goes with a number of places on the body, and looks great.

Most flower tattoos aren't messages, just beauty

Flower tattoos do something a little different than a lot of other tattoos, in that they're not that focused on making a statement or trying to say something, like many other tattoos, there's just something about the beauty, color and lines of the flower that people like to ink on their bodies.

So flower tattoo designs are mostly real and not surreal, although when combined with other tattoo themes can definitely go in that direction.

But standing alone the flower tattoo takes center stage, and rightly so, as it the key message it sends is one of beauty and inspiration.

It's like a flower on a table or mantle that is there not to give a message, but be a message. There aren't too many tattoo themes that are like this, and it's actually refreshing to see it be that way with the flower.

Scrolling flower tattoos look great

Like butterfly tattoos and dragon tattoos, flowers look good especially on elongated parts of the body like the side, legs and arms. They can look good and interesting on other parts of the body too, but they show well on the longer and more slender parts of the body in my opinion.

Scrolling tattoos are one of my favorites, and flowers and flower vines and stems give flower tattoos the perfect tools to look good on the body canvass.

Flower Tattoo Placement

While women prefer flower tattoos more than men, I have noticed a different between men and women when they are inked with a flower.

In general, men seem to bunch them more together and eschew the leaner, longer, scrolling flower tattoo, while women embrace that more.

As always, there are exceptions to that rule, but it does show in the tattoos as a pattern.

More than likely that's connected to the theme itself, and the overall lines to a woman's body, which makes it work more, and accentuates her femininity.

Try temporary tattoos first

There are temporary tattoos for almost any type of tattoo design today, but flowers have a particularly strong representation in temporary tattoo design, and are a great way to try before you buy, in the sense that a tattoo is permanent.

Why take a risk like that when it's so easy to put a temporary tattoo where you want it and close to the color and flower type or style?

Flower tattoos work with many tattoo theme combinations

Flower tattoos work great with other tattoo themes, and so are good candidates for combinations like butterfly tattoos, dragonfly tattoos, fairy tattoos, dragon tattoos, among a host of others.

So it also has the potential to be added on to and developed if you have that desire, while it also serves as a standalone tattoo if you decide to stick with that alone.

They are among the most versatile tattoos because of how they can be added to almost any theme, which will keep them highly desirable and in demand.
