Once upon a time I had absolutely no doubt that the best way to know a person’s or group’s ineffectiveness is by the volume and the intensity of criticism directed toward the person or group. Too, I thought such criticism is a good gauge of any threat perceived by the critic.

Now, I am less certain. I read a whole lot of reader’s responses to political articles posted on the internet and I now believe, judging from readers responses, a large share of the criticism is based on biases arising from ignorance and perhaps a desire to plant a persuasive “seed” in the minds of others. Jealously might play a role too.

There is another consideration as well: Malcontents.

Malcontents don’t make credible arguments. They don’t really have objective reasons for their trash talk. They offer no sourcing and they do not provide verifiable information. Of course, they might regret their comments from time to time but I suspect they are mostly ill-mannered. To me, their comments are good entertainment for they make me laugh.

FNC
Reading posted comments sometimes make one believe the entire nation is against FNC. I don’t believe it to be true because FNC is, and has been for some time, the most watched cable news channel of all. Do people continue to watch what they don’t like? Probably not for long. Just long enough to satisfy their curiosity.

Still, FNC is the subject of comments such as this:

Visit the Fox website... it always looks like a Tabloid Rag magazine at the Checkout counter. They hide their uneducated pundits at the bottom of their site. The ads are always those "quack-like" products. Why the owner is not even a legit American. Its YELLOW journalism. Its "Citizen Kane" Rosebud Rosebud Rosebud!

Sounds to me the commenter is merely making noise for reasons known only to him or her. Interestingly, this comment is one of the few negative comments directed at FNC, probably because the article describes a deteriorating relationship between the White House and FNC. Comments attached to the story show FNC does have defenders.

Me too

Kindly count me as a FNC defender and an admirer. The FNC journalists and the FNC commentators are, I think, tops among all in the national broadcast media and probably the major print media as well. Without FNC I wouldn’t know nearly as much as I do about Mr. Obama’s czar fiasco:

  • Van Jones, the former communist and current 9-11 truther.
  • John Holdren, the advocate for controlling population by sterilization.
  • Mark Lloyd, the advocate for limiting the reporting of news organizations.

An internet search will give you plenty of information about each. And, I’m learning about more czar problems from FNC.

Without FNC I wouldn’t know nearly as much about the bailout, the cash-for-clunkers, the health care embarrassment, the failed 2016 Olympic bid, ACORN, cap and trade or the Afghanistan troop level concern. Jeremiah Wright and Bill Ayers would have been just names without details if not for FNC.

Since no other broadcast media reported these stories as serious matters, it isn’t difficult understanding why FNC is rated the highest of all and it is no surprise to me that FNC critics cannot find firm ground from which to speak.

And the magic is
The magic, at least for now, is that FNC does not kiss up. FNC finds important news stories and informs us.

It’s the place that everyone who is anyone goes for the news, fair and balanced.
