Considering purchasing a Forest River RV? Maybe this will be your first purchase.

If so consider this short introduction into the world of recreational vehicles.

An RV - a recreational vehicle - is just that. A way to get away without having to shell out to much cash or spend your night sleeping on the ground.

But with different lifestyles and pocketbooks, there is no one-vehicle-fits-all solution.

There are the folding trailers, the travel trailers, the fifth-wheels and the motorhomes - something to suit every need and every budget.

To begin with, there are the folding trailers, which attach to basically any type of vehicle. They're for those who have cars, minivans or small SUVs which can only pull about 3,000 pounds.

Then there are the travel trailers and the fifth wheels. The major difference between the two is that the fifth wheels have a bit more room and are mounted on a truck bed while the travel trailer can be hitched to the back of the tow vehicle.

Then there are the big boys, the Class A, B, and C motorhomes.

When you consider buying a Forest River RV or any other RV, there are several factors to consider.

There is cost. Obviously a motorhome is going to cast far more than a travel trailer and they can run from $100,000 to whatever.

How often do they have manufacturing problems or design problems? All companies have some, but some companies have far too many.

The other issue is, when something does go wrong, what is done about it and how quickly? The real quality manufacturers make it right, no matter what. The poor quality will do only what they feel can not be avoided. One or two satisfied customers is no more indication of a quality manufacturer than one or two unhappy customers mean a company builds all junk.
