Sunday School Lesson Fun!

Free Sunday School Lessons and Noah Ideas

There's a truckload of free Sunday school lessons that cover the story of Noah's Ark. Noah's boated zoo story opens a huge window of opportunity for creative lessons.

At the beginning, it's important to explain to the children that Noah was one of the only men to obey God and that's why he and the animals were saved. You want to express that Noah was a noble and obedient man. This leads into great discussions for younger kids on important values that they should always possess. For example, they're obeying God by loving one another, saying prayers and performing good deeds.

Crafts are another big part of free Sunday school lessons that pertain to Noah. Animals were a big part of Noah's adventure. Animal projects are perfect for kids. A great piece of artwork for your kids to create is a simple three-dimensional cat. Each kid will need a toilet paper roll, stencils of a cat's face and tail and paws, markers, scissors, glue and paper. You can make these stencils out of a piece of poster board if there aren't any at the story.

Each kid will cut out the body parts (i.e. Paws, tail, face) and color them however they want to. The body of the cat will be made by taking the regular piece of paper, coloring it and gluing it around the toilet paper roll. Show the kids how to make a small tab on the end of the tail piece so that they can glue it on the back of the roll, so it's sticking out. Then once all of the pieces are colored, they'll glue the body parts onto the body. This creates a fun little display of unique artwork that the children can be proud of.

Kids love to bake. There aren't nearly enough free Sunday school lessons that use baking to teach Bible stories. However, Noah's Ark allows for one of the most unique baking activities: dog biscuits! These biscuits are really for dogs, not for the children! Once they're made, donate them to a local animals shelter. This presents a great opportunity to teach the kids about good deeds and how they pertain to Noah's Ark. There are a number of ingredients that you'll need to supply: 1 ½ cups of all purpose flour and of whole wheat flour, ½ cup of cornmeal, 2 Tbsp nonfat dry milk, 1 tsp of cinnamon and nutmeg, 1 ½ tsp of allspice, 1 egg and 1 ¼ tsp of water. Preheat the oven to 350F. Stir all of the ingredients together except for the water and the egg. After all of the other ingredients are in the mix, stir in the water and the egg with a wooden spoon. Knead the dough until it is smooth and roll it out about ¼ of an inch thick. Then, use bone shaped cookie cutters to cut them. They must bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour and then leave them out overnight to harden.

Your days of dull Sunday school lessons are over. Noah's Ark is an amazing subject and it'll bring joy and laughter to your classroom.
