What is Webs.com?

Webs.com, formerly known as freewebs, is a website dedicated to helping you easily create professional looking websites from the tips of your fingers. You don't need to know CSS,HTML, and all that jazz - all you need to have is a computer and a working internet connection. If you're looking to make a website for anything from business to personal uses, then Webs.com is probably the best place to start. This guide will tell you everything you need to know about making a website using the Webs.com site-builder and all of the features they have to offer. Let's get started...

Visit Webs.com

Webs.com - a great place to start building your website for free! Building a website has never been easier using their easy-to-use site-builder.

  • Webs.com allows you to see first-hand statistics of your traffic and what they're up to.

Features

  • Choose from over 300 Templates
  • Easy-to-use Page Editor
  • Organize / Share Photos & Videos
  • Communicate Through Blogs & Forums
  • Add Widgets from Around the Webs
  • Grow your Business with a Web-Store
  • and much, much more!

Step-By-Step

To build a website:

  1. On the homepage, enter what your site's name will be - Ex. WebsiteName.webs.com and enter your desired password.
  2. After clicking 'Create a Website' - it will bring you to a page with a bunch of template designs. Choose one that suits what type of site you will be making and choose the right color as well. (pick something that looks professional and organized, not sloppy and generic)
  3. The next page asks you what type of package you want. For now, choose the first one - the free one.
  4. After, they will bring you to their site-builder. They ask if you if you want help building your site, or if you want to get started on your own. If you want to learn about the many features of webs to get started, then select "help build my site". Continue through the questionnaire until your site is just how you want it.
  5. Once you are done editing your site, click the publish button in the upper, right-hand corner and return to the site manager. You will notice that there is a to-do list on the right side of your screen. Complete as many of these as you can to learn more about Webs' many features.
  6. One last thing - Click the site settings tab and notice on the right, there is a toolbar that says 'Site Usage' followed by Web storage Used, Bandwidth Used and Form Submissions Used. Web Storage is amount of space you have to upload pictures and files to the web. You are allowed around 50mb of web storage with the free package. Bandwidth, which is probably the most important out of the three, is the amount of space you can serve up to your visitors. For example: if your visitors load a 100kb file from your website, 100kb of your bandwidth will be used up. You are allowed 100mb of bandwidth with the free package. Lastly, you have 25 form submissions each month that your visitors can fill out and send to you. Form submissions and Bandwidth will reset every month, allowing you to keep your site up and running.

Packages and Deals

The downside of freewebs is that you will find that an upgrade is eventually necessary. You are going to realize that you need more bandwidth and more features to keep your website up to date. Pictured below are the various deals Webs is offering that you can take advantage of.

Great Guide. I already have a site through them, and it was pretty simple. Unfortunately there's not a whole lot of room as far as customization. You can choose pages and layouts, but can't put much original content such as a logo or banner, etc...

They also don't go very in depth as far as widgets and the e-store

Overall, a free site is a free site and it's pretty good!

Just to correct you - you can put a customized logo on your webpages but it might depend on what template you have though.
