I was first aware of a credit report when I received a letter in the mail saying I owe hundreds of dollar from a debt collection agency. I wasn’t happy at all. So, I contacted my friend and he told me I am able to receive one free copy of my credit report from a website called annual credit report. When I received a copy of my report, I saw errors on my credit report. What I’m trying to say is I wasn’t aware of credit reports until I receive a letter in the mail.
What is an annual free credit report?
Annual Credit Report is the only authorized source to get your free annual credit report under federal law. You are entitled to receive one free credit report every 12 months from each of the nationwide consumer credit reporting companies Equifax, Trans Union, and Experian at Annual Credit Report website. The Fair Credit Reporting Act guarantees you access to a free credit report from each of the three nationwide credit reporting agencies — Experian, Equifax, and Trans Union.

Steps to take to receive your free credit report.
