Despite the rise in obesity and weight problems generally, increasing numbers of people nowadays are very conscious about their own health and fitness. It would be easy to blame one single thing but the truth is, despite the obesity pandemic the world is facing we are still an image conscious society. Consequently gyms, health spas, fitness clubs and equipment manufacturers are all doing very well with what everyone hopes is not just another fashion.

We are all be urged to become more responsible about our fitness generally so it is no surprise that there has been an increase in the amount of interest shown. But exercise is not the only way to build that body beautiful because it also entails a certain responsibility about the foods we choose to eat as being healthy and fit requires one to follow a regular diet fitness regime.

We need to remember that our bodies require a certain level of nourishment if they are going to be able to repair themselves and stay healthy and diet and fitness go hand in hand. What doesn't help the average person is what diet-fitness regime to follow as both seem to make sense; there is the one that says eat foods with high carbohydrate levels and the other which says you need to eat foods with a high fat content which appears to contradict everything we are told about dieting.

To understand this better you need to know that the high-carbohydrate followers believe that you need to eat foods rich in carbohydrates to exercise well and the opposition believe you need to consume foods high in fat. The more traditional high-carb diet camp says you need to have carbohydrates because the glycogen or glucose is stored in the muscles ready for use when performing anaerobic or what we term, short and rapid exercise.

The other camp believe that because fat is a higher source of calories an it metabolizes in a fraction of the time it takes carbohydrates, then these are the foodstuffs we should consume before exercise. So a person can follow a high-carb and low fat fitness diet or the other way around but it is not recommended to follow both at the same time; unless of course if you want to gain body fat.

But then diet fitness is not all about losing fat and you must also consider your diet in order to keep fat away. Research shows that sustainable loss of weight can only be achieved on a diet which suits the individual food preferences, lifestyle and medical profile.

The problem with most diets is that people can't wait to come off them but if one can be tailored made for you then there is a greater chance you will stay on it and eat in moderation and a variety of food groups. It would be easy just to eat only the things we liked but not in such large quantities but we need to maintain a balance so our bodies receive the nutrients and vitamins necessary for good health.

The answer to all this is arranging for a diet that suits your own personal needs as being healthy is more important that just looking good and if you want to continue with your diet fitness program it should be something you enjoy.
