Freelance Writing Jobs | 77 Sources for All of Us Who Write for a Living
83Freelance Writing Jobs
Hello fellow Hubbers! I have discovered in my time here on Hub Pages that I am in the company of some amazing, professional writers...some have been discovered...and others are still a secret, unknown gem, to the outside world.
As I move my own writing career forward, I realized that it is very hard to find good sources for writing gigs. One of the things I know about writing is the need to actively participate in the craft and business if you are serious about earning a living from it.
I read from several of you that you are hoping to be "discovered' here on Hub Pages. While that may actually happen, you can up your chances of discovery by searching for writing jobs yourself and helping someone find out how wonderful you are!
This task can often suck the life out of your time and day... trying to figure out where to look, who to pursue and where to park your articles. I thought that I would share with all of you the sites I have found to-date that may be of help to you. These sources are either a place to post in a forum, search for a freelance job, ghost write, writing and poetry contests, or writers sources.
Sites for Writers
While it is in no way a comprehensive list, here are 77 sites I have found (besides our most excellent Hub Pages of course) in my own personal writing ventures. If you have any to add that you have personally found helpful, please feel free to add them in the comments section. Good luck to all you wonderful Hubbers in your writing careers!

Thanks Gus! I am glad that it may help! That is awesome to hear that you have also used Hub pages as a portfolio! You are one of those awesome writers I was talking about! Congrats on your success!
Wow what a lot of resources. Thanks
Hi Ethel- You are welcome! Thanks for stopping by- i hope they are useful to you.
How is DN Forum a writing resource?
DN has forums and chats that discuss online issues including writing. Some of these sources-- like DN-- will allow you to see what people (who hire writers) are talking about. If a writer understands the need of a future potential client, they can know how to format a post that may help them land a gig. Its just a "think outside the box" resource. I hope it is useful :)
Thanks bay area, this goes on my bookmark!
Awesome! I am glad it will be a good source for you Flightkeeper! Thanks for stopping by!
Thank you so much, it is really well researched and presented source although at this stage in my life I am just experiment with writing and I just want to see from responses on the hub if I am good at it at all. There are so many great writers all around ...one has to ask do I have any chance?
Beata- you are an awesome writer! Of course you have a chance! GO FOR IT GF!
Thank you providing these sites. I will be checking them out as I go along.
You put my feelings so well here:"This task can often suck the life out of your time and day... trying to figure out where to look, who to pursue and where to park your articles..."
Blessings to you.
I will definitely be bookmarking this hub. Thank you!!
Great source of information for all of us. Thanks for compiling this list. MM
Thank you. Great Info.
Thanks for the listing! It is very helpful, instead of spending hours on the internet. I will beusing the list as a resource and checking out the prospects. Thanks, and God Bless!
Thanks for the list...it's exactly what I've been looking for.
really it is excellent hubpage
Thanks you have some good information here.
This hub will be used by me quite frequently. It has great freelance writing resources. Do you have any "How to get published" tips.
Fantastic list, it will be very helpful.
Very good hub I need it! Thank you
Thank you so much. I have been searching independently for a few years. I dream of writing children's books and poetry books someday. What an awesome tool you have provided. You are a God-send. I will be using this as I go.
Bookmarked! thank you very much!
Thanks so much for this list. Very helpful. You could also add to the list: ehow.com, and Squidoo.com. I'm currently writing articles for ehow and Hub Pages and have one article on Squidoo. Hub Pages is the best I've found so far, though (I just signed up with Hub a few days ago and have published one article so far and working on the second one). I'm signed up with Elance (on your list), although I haven't accepted any jobs yet. I'm using my articles from ehow, Hub Pages and Squidoo as my portfolio to get freelance jobs through Elance and others. The freelancing is where the bigger money is, although income from places like Hub and ehow will slowly build up over time. I've bookmarked your article.
Great hub! Very useful you must have done a lot of research! I am going to bookmark it right now!
That is extremely helpful. Thank you!
Very nice insights. I am new to the HubPages group. I like how this site allows you to share your insights on topics you possess a great knowledge. Once again, thank you.
This is some priceless information. Thank you for sharing.
Great info! Thanks for posting.
Excellent sources! I only knew about 10% of them! Thanks so much for sharing!
A great big "thumbs up" to you.
I appreciate these sites, however at this time I don't think that I am polished enough to get paid for what I do, maybe in time, but the list is great. Very good hub, one for me to bookmark.
The information obtained from this very helpful for me, thank you.
That's a good list you have there. I know a lot of the names are new to me.
thank you good article....
That's great. May you be richly blessed.
I've ghost-written a lot of boks, some for very famous people. It was the best money I ever made. But I sure didn't find those jobs on a publicly available website. They came through referral through my other work. People who'll pay good money for a ghost-writer don't advertise on websites, I've found.
Thank you all for your comments and input! It is really helpful to me and hopefully to others too. If you have anymore insight or sources that you want to share, that would be awesome. I appreciate you taking the time to share your experiences too (good or bad).
Wow, this list is just massive, I have bookmarked your hub. Kudos!
John
Maraiya Storm - thanks for adding to the list!
Here is a new site I wanted to add that I just discovered--
I've checked out your links and they are pretty great in my "book."
Thanks for the thumbs up bookflame!
Thank you FOR SO MUCH INFORMATION, IT IS VERY USEFUL.
You are so welcome!!
This is an awesome post. Keep up the good work.

Great job on the info. That took a LONG time to dig out I'm sure.
Thanks Misstikal1 and theguru-reports for your comments. Guru- what took a long time was trying to alphabetize them! I almost gave up at one point :) But it makes it easier for you to find what you need I think.
I wonder how much each site pays! The best is to find a site that pays high and have regular assignments
There is a wide variation of pay. Some sites only offer a few dollars for an article and others $10 to $50. The very best writing assignments are usually not frmm the web as Bookflame mentioned. These can be a great place to earn a little, hone your craft, and have examples of your work to land the better paying jobs. They do add up though and collectively you can make a decent income.
Thank you! I'm glad I stumbled upon this page.
Great info and hope you'll keep sharing your wisom with new hubbers like me!

BAGT - Thanks. This article is a great resource. I used Hubpages as a billboard to show prosective clients that I could actually write. Result: 1 signed contract in hand and probably some more on the way. I hope that lots of Hubbers read your article and follow through. Gus
