Are you a creative person, love to design objects of decorations, like to work wonders with your hand? Have you considered taking furniture design classes? Are you in search of woodworking careers or a career enhancement within the woodworking, manufacturing and related industries?.
Enrol for furniture design classes.
You probably love working with wood. Here is a chance to become a furniture designer.
Basically, furniture design involves a good understanding of form and function and the materials to choose to work best for a particular piece of furniture. When you take furniture design classes, the first thing you begin with, is understanding form and modelling of any chosen form.
You then have to follow this with the technical aspect of furniture design which is basically producing technical drawings of the designed piece. This is usually the fun part, and was for me, while studying as an interior designer, taking furniture design classes as one of my subjects.
Along side this, the history of furniture designs, past designs, and, manufacturing processes, are also covered in all furniture design classes. This can help students select a woodworking project, perfect for them.
Starting Furniture Design Classes
When you start your furniture design classes, you will be encouraged to select a wood working project that is perfect for you.
As a furniture design student, you will acquire a variety of skills in furniture design programs, including technical drawing, machine tooling and architectural design elements.
Of particular importance in furniture design classes, is learning how the design of a product can combine function, aesthetics and value for the end user.
You will experience classroom teaching, combined with an on the job experience, or in a simulated environment.
After going through these teachings and trainings in your furniture design class, the final product of your training will be a completed furniture piece, which should showcase a functional and stylish woodworking design.
Finished furniture pieces can be showcased at contests or design fairs, and these fairs mostly feature cutting edge woodworking designs from a variety of schools.
Having a degree in furniture design will prepare you for , if you wish, (and I will advice), trainings in industrial design, engineering, architecture, industrial maintenance or machine technology and operation.
Furniture design classes have specialized woodworking machinery, used in furniture manufacturing. These machinery include mills, lathes and drills. Whatever your specific area of study may be, you will receive firsthand experience using the necessary woodworking tools to perfect and finish your projects.
If you prefer to enrol online for furniture design classes, there are over 1000 opportunities for wood working training online. Some schools also offer adult education woodworking classes.

WOODWORKING TECHNOLOGY
Wood technology relates to wood machining, processes and the technology involved in architectural woodwork and the creation of secondary wood products.
ARCHITECTURAL WOODWORK
At your furniture design school, you will be provided a hands-on approach to architectural woodwork, combined with industry training and the necessary instructional courses to work on projects. Architectural woodwork is basically crafting wood pieces, crown molding, baseboards, stair details and door and window panels. These wood pieces are produced for commercial and residential use. Here, real-world projects are given students, so they can have firsthand experience in architectural woodwork.
ARCHITECTURAL MILLWORK
Created using a mill, architectural millwork is actually using a mill to cut wood, and creating lines to make panels or ornate moldings.
CARPENTRY
Carpentry classes prepare students for woodworking projects for the interior and exterior of buildings and is a wood career in architectural woodwork. Classes or trainings, both on a small and large scale basis for carpentry, are available all over the nooks and crannies of the world.
CABINETMAKING (CABINETRY)
Woodworking machineries are utilised to make cabinets, furniture pieces and shelving. This form of woodwork consists of finishing and repairing wood objects and structures utilizing an array of woodworking skills. It includes the creation of cabinets, furniture, ships, movie sets or building frames, just to name a few.
