The pull-ups are my new found best friend and in the absolute best choice for working out the back. It works out the laterals, the deltoids, the triceps and even the biceps not to mention the core if done correctly. Now I know that pull-ups are not the easiest so focus on what you can do not what you can't. Use a chair, stool, bench or workout partner to help spot you when you first start out and once you get into the swing of things you will be doing them on your own and you will see killer improvements. I went from all assisted to 10 on my own within 3 months and I am a big guy!

If you don't change things up in your routine you will plateau and never reach your full potential.
