I would like to share with you some gardening tips which have worked for me. Surely these would help you when you start your own. Looking for gardening tips? Try the internet, gardening clubs, books, magazines and do not forget to talk to your local nursery. You will need to figure out how much sun your plot will be getting during the day and get tips on fertilizers, mulch and the type of soil. The kind of tiller and the watering system that are required along with the types of tools needed are things which you would be interested to know.

Tip #1: There is nothing as great as writing down the entire gardening plan on a piece of paper. It also helps you save time. Take the help of a friend if needed. Keep the plan in front of you and let the brainstorming begin. The important points to consider is how the garden would look, how far is the hose and sprinklers, etc. There could be other points of consideration also.

Gardening Tip #2: The way you have prepared your soil can decide whether you succeed in your gardening efforts. Take into consideration that soil quality varies according to plants. Using organic fertilizers for vegetables and herbs is a must, if you wish to retain the natural flavor of the food. Wooden chip mulch or any good compost would be a better choice than ordinary fertilizer.

If you think that having a compost heap at your backyard is a near-impossible idea, think again. Its valuable returns are incredible. Though fresh home brew compost is an excellent source of nutrition for your vegetable and herb garden, it can well be completely unrealistic. While mulch is a viable alternative to home compost mixture, but ensure that you are using softer woods which break faster, like redwood or pine. Whether you use mulch, compost or fertilizer, you must mix them well.

Gardening Tip #3: You might like to make last minute changes to the appearance of your garden. to be able to do this, do not plant the plants soon after the soil is ready. Just lay them out ion top of the soil and check whether you like what you see. I believe that plants having similar characteristics should be planted together. Large plants with a big radius for instance should all be grouped together. All tall plants at the back and shorter plants in the front make a lot of sense.

Gardening Tip #4: One of the most important points to remember is to water your garden regularly. A tough task is to keep at it. Of course the size of the garden also matters. To make a garden grow on its own, use an automatic watering system. Choose anything from a large sprinkling system to a time on a hose - your automatic watering system can provide many options. Gardening is not just hard work - it gives you much in return. Remember, that it provides shade, beauty and sometimes food also.
