Garmin eTrex H is probably about as basic as you want to go.
It has a monochrome screen that displays 4 shades of grey, and is easy to read in bright light, or in the shade.
It is waterproof. So getting caught in the rain is no problem. Nor is getting splashed.
eTrex H is small and light. So it's easy to carry with you.
It's also sturdy – and can be bashed about or dropped without too many problems arising.
It's accurate. Once you've got the coordinates of your destination in, this Garmin eTtrex H gps will lead you there. And, at the press of a button, it will turn your track around and lead you right back the way you came. Back home (or to your car). Back to where you started from.
There Are, However, Three Things You Will Want To Be Aware Of:

- To load this GPS with coordinates, you will either enter latitude and longitude manually, or via the computer, using a serial (not USB) cable. This could be seen as a real disadvantage.
