ge and kenmore microwave ovens recall

General Electric has recalled over 92,000 ge,ge profile, and kenmore double wall ovens to correct a fire hazard involving the top mount microwave oven.

Engineers have verified that a door switch could over heat and ignite components in the microwave, there have been about 35 reports of this incident resulting in property damage but no injuries.

There are no problems with the lower thermal oven, the recalled ovens were sold between january 2000 and december 2003 and can be identified by the model number printed on a label on the lower left corner of the front of the oven.
