Recognising Gemini

Remember that charmingly gregarious person who helped you pick out that perfect card and gift for your mother - the one who made you feel clever, and witty and charming? You were so impressed that you went back a few days later, specifically to say hello - and were stunned when he completely ignored you, and then when he couldn't help but see you, he was so cold, you could have sworn icicles fell from his lips when he spoke.

Imagine your surprise when he turns up at a friend of a friend's party and greets you like an old friend - and is thrilled to see you! Of course he apologizes for his abhorrent behaviour last week, but he was having personal problems and just couldn't seem to concentrate...and he is ever so sorry...

Gemini the twins
Gemini the twins

Are you dizzy yet? In case you haven't guessed it - you have just been introduced to the twins!

You might have trouble finding one, as they can be here today, and gone tomorrow - their mercurial nature makes them hard to pin down! They can change their clothes, job, residence, and love of their lives as quickly as they change their minds.

One place you are sure to spot a Gemini is in a book store. They are drawn to the printed word like a moth to a flame. Mind you, finding one who reads the books from start to finish might be stretching it a bit - Gemini's are notorious for becoming bored part way through and switching gears.

Mercury the messenger...

The Gemini's ruling planet is Mercury, and like the messenger, these quicksilver personalities seem to be always in motion. Even at rest, their eyes and minds are constantly searching for the next 'new' thing that will capture their imaginations.

One thing all Gemini's have in common is the ability to wield the spoken word like a finely honed sword. They generally have extensive vocabularies, so much so that the rest of us have a tendency to check the Gemini's back pockets for Webster's Unabridged, and Roget's Thesaurus! Being so well versed with language, Gemini tends to speak quickly, and listen just as fast. They have little patience for stick-in-the-mud conservatives, or with people who can't make up their minds. After all - he knows exactly where he stands - but that could change tomorrow...

Geminis are almost always tall and slender, as opposed to short and round - even if they do have a stockier build, they will be slightly taller than average. They have well formed, sharp features, straight noses, and clear, alert, blue, green, or hazel eyes. Geminis seem sympathetically friendly, and have unusually quick and generally graceful movements. They can have light or dark hair (or both,,,) and sometimes a rather high forehead.

Gemini duality

Gemini is the sign of the twins - and because of this duality, Mercury people have the inherant ability to multi-task better than the rest of us. Gemini women can feed the baby, talk on the phone, do the dishes and pop in the laundry quicker than it takes us to do one item on the list. When Gemini is on a roll they can organise the house, yard, groceries, pay the bills, wash the car and have dinner sitting in the oven, all without seeming to break a sweat!

However, any type of drudgery, or boring routine will act as a depressant for a Gemini. They hate monotony, and resent dull boring chores that endlessly repeat. They are also not the most prompt people on the face of the planet - not that they set out to be late, but there is always something that catches their attention along the way...you understand right? Their restless nature demands constant change and excitement or they become downright morose and depressed.

A Gemini can sell igloos to eskimos - (which is why they make great politicians) so be careful not to let one sweet talk you into meeting for lunch, take in a few shops, and catch the early movie. Chances are, by the time your Gemini arrives, there isn't really time for lunch, and the shops he wanted to check out are closed, and the movie really doesn't seem that interesting, so how bout we do this tomorrow instead...sound good? And if you agree, you have no one to blame but yourself!

Writing and Gemini goes hand in hand, but you won't find any biographies authored by the twins - novels, textbooks, even technical journals, but they don't share their inner feelings with anyone except their 'other half. It is also rare to find one who enjoys writing letters. Most Geminis avoid this exercise like the plague...give them a phone instead.

Geminis need to rest twice as much as the rest of us, however, as they have a tendancy to suffer from insomnia, they rarely get it. Regardless, they should rest, rest, and rest - as much as possible to recharge that overactive brain and give their jangled nerves a break because nervous exhaustion is a constant threat.

Geminis seek to find an ideal - however, they can't see the forest for the trees. There is always a patch of greener grass just over that hill, and doesn't the sky look bluer to the west? They are tactful, diplomatic, multi-talented, with keen eyes and wit to match, yet they lack persistance, tenacity and patience. Gemini can charm the stars from the skies, but can easily overlook the bird of happiness on his windowsill, waiting to be noticed. Mercury's twin will always be divided until they can learn to listen to each other.

I'm a Gemini so you can see why I just couldn't wait to go thru this hub! Great stuff Enelle - you've got it bang on! It's always a discussion in the head between the two twins - and we love multitasking. The only thing I'm not is being late for any appointment - it's tough but I try hard :)

Another excellent Hub, Enelle, as usual ;) You must know my sister - you absolutely nailed her. Lovely, charming, creative butterfly...and why are Taurus men so attracted to Gemini women I wonder? What a case of opposites attracting, LOL. Love your style - you make this so simple and readable! Well done!

Shalini - thank you so much for the compliment - I have trouble being on time as well - I think maybe I should practice more lol...so glad you enjoyed the hub.

RedElf - funny you should mention that lol...I was just discussing this with dohn who asked the same question. You are pretty close with the opposites attracting - that does play a large part - each one is lacking something the other provides - if they can overcome their differences and not drive each other wakko LOL Thank you so much for the compliment, I will do my best to make the rest of the zodiac signs as readable as this =)

Another great Hub Enelle! I used to have a Gemini boss and friend who was so unpunctual that I developed a policy of telling him a starting time of at least half an hour before the real start and time everyone else was invited. He would still manage to be late or not turn up at all!

CMHypno - Thank you so much! It can be very frustrating for us non Geminis - used this strategy myself a time or two - with pretty much the same results LOL

Some Geminis are attracted to Scorpios as they have usually integrated their dark side. exL Bob Dylan and Sara -- so they divorced but some of his most painful, intense love songs were about her.

Well done. My Sag friend and I used to say "Geminis are always late" since we had a hyper friend with five planets in Gemini

spiritdancerocean - Thank you, Yes Gemini and Scorpio teams are also common - and I'm sure I can say that for almost any sign lol...however, there are a few that just don't spark at all! Thanks for dropping by =)

I was really looking forward to this because I'm a Gemini. You got is right there - nailed it on the head, so to speak, except for the being late part! I've always been on time, actually ahead of time in most cases. I just don't like the idea of making people wait for me.

Oh, also the changing jobs thing, that's not me. However, the interest in so many things and the drudgery - that's really me! That's why I picked jill of alltrades as my name here.

Thank you for this excellent hub!

jill - so glad you enjoyed it! You realize of course, that the reason you are probably on time and not changing jobs as often as you change your socks is probably due to your ascendant sign =) in any case, that's my story and I'm sticking to it LOL
