general electric and hotpoint appliances use to sit at the top when it comes to service and quality years ago,now when customers ask me how come this washer only last five years before the transmission went bad and the previous one her mother had last thirty years, all i can say is that they don't make things like they use to.

The three most obvious things that have changed, for the worst on the general electric washer,--the timer,--this is mostly plastic, so it is easily broken.

The pump, this is now an electric pump,it can get stuck by small objects and eventually burn out.

The transmission, compared to the older version, this one is very small and much lighter.

i like the duet the tub is very large, however since they are still new and i haven't come across a lot of them so i am not sure of their quality and durability, i have only work on two so far and both were  boot--(gasket) these are not the right name   but i can't think of the proper name  just  now----what kind of experience if any do you have with  them?-i talk to you later-fyxer-.
