Genital warts : the definition of genital warts

Genital warts is a growth around the anal ( perianal region ), and genital area. Genital warts are caused by human papilloma virus ( HPV )

Genital warts transmission :

1. Genital warts virus is transmitted by sexual contact.

2. Genital warts virus is also transmitted vertically from mother to baby during pregnancy.

Treatment of genital warts :

1. Freezing of the genital warts.

2. Apply certain creams or liquids

3. Electrical heat or laser to burn the genital warts

Genital warts Vs. other type of warts:

Genital warts is infected. Warts in other parts of the body is not infected.

Genital warts and cancers :

Genital warts is associated with certain cancers eg.cervical cancer. Genital warts virus triggers the formation of abnormal cells in the cervical tissue. This cells changes develop into cancer over a period of time.

What happen after treatment?

Its only visible warts are removed. The genital warts virus is still present in the skin and the warts may reccurs later.

Other factors that can aggravate the genital warts recurrence eg pregnancy even if the womwn had treated before. Genital warts can occur in pregnant women even if they are no previous history of genital warts.
