Hannover is one of the major cities of northern Germany.

The city has a population of around 522,000 and is known as the host city of the Hanover Fair and the CeBIT. Hanover also holds the annual Schtzenfest Hannover, Oktoberfest and the largest Marksmen's Fun Fair in the world. The Hannover fairground is the largest fairgrounds in the world, largely due to expansions made for the Expo 2000. Hanover is also a regionally important city due to its universities, its medical school, airport and city zoo. Hanover is also an important center for the German automotive industry, with Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Continental, Varta and WABCO all headquartered here.

Beer Festival

Lake Maschsee Festival in Hannover
