When incorporating weight training into your cardiovascular exercise you should focus on your core muscle groups; the abdomen, back, obliques, legs and chest. No matter the exercise your abdomen is always working as it stabilizes your back and stops you from hurting yourself. You can choose the type of weight training you wish to do. You can either look to build new muscle and as muscle weighs more then fat you may not notice a weight change but you will notice tightening and toning. Or you can look to tone the muscles you have. Toning is achieved by doing many repetitions and building muscle is caused by increasing your weights. Many women want to burn their belly fat without getting all muscley. Even with workouts to build muscle this isn't likely to happen as womens bodies don't have the hormones to enable this. So if you're a women don't worry.
You also shouldn't restrict your diet too much. Many belly fat schemes put you on a diet in which you can only eat about 1200 calories or even less. This in no way helps you to lose fat. Instead it leaves you feeling hungry and you may actually snack more. To effectively lose weight you need to stay away from high fat foods and switch to high fiber, low or no fat products and whole grains. You will actually notice that you will be eating even more food without actually eating more calories. If you want a snack you should try some foods like apples, dried fruits, nuts and veggies.
