Anyone who is an active internet user, will have heard of a blog. Chances are that you have a blog or two or that you have read a blog or two.

I have often wondered do we blog correctly, or if there is a correct way to blog. I have searched the internet and found some very concrete advice that seems to be the general of getting the best of your blog. Even ideas on how to make your blog profitable.

1. Put good content into your blog.

This seems to be a common theme throughout all of the different sites and tips I have read. It encourages good content, especially if you can get good content around good keywords. This increases the chances of search engines picking up on your blog.

2. Keep your blog updated regularly

Again this is a very repeated tip. Keeping your blog continually updated is a great way of having repeat visitors. Just because visitors don't necessarily leave messages, doesn't mean that they are not visiting.

3. Increase Traffic

Now this is a common request among all sites. Increasing traffic. But in this case, you can help by adding your blog link to your e-mails, social network sites etc; This is increasing the links that search engines can pick up on, and in increases your url exposure. This is just a simple tip.

4. Read and get involved in other peoples blogs. This means for example, if you are on blogger, read other bloggers blogs. Leave messages, send other members messages. This increases the chance that they will read your blog. Also get involved with blog communities and blogospheres. You can link up to groups of common interest.

5. Submit your blogs to blog directories and register with search engines. Blog directories increase your url presence, and registering with search engines gets your url cached, which, if you are interested in monetising your blog, will increase your chances of being pick up by advertisers.

These are just some simple tips I have pick up by doing some research.
