I love Steve Carell. I’ve loved his comedy ever since he was a correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. When I first saw him as Evan Baxter in Bruce Almighty, I thought he nearly stole the show. In Anchorman, he was fantastic, and I feel that 40 Year Old Virgin cemented him as a comedy powerhouse. Now he’s playing the role of Maxwell Smart in the Get Smart movie, based on the old television program. I’ve never seen the show, but Steve Carell? Sign me up!

Maxwell Smart is Agent 86 for CONTROL, a secret government organization. He wants to be a great spy, but he has a ways to go. He looks up to Agent 23, who in the movie will be played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

When KAOS, an enemy agency, learns the secret identities of all of CONTROL’s agents, the Chief has no choice but to put Maxwell Smart in the field. Along with Agent 99 (played by Ann Hathaway), they must stop KAOS and save the day.

I’m only 22 years old, so I have a huge advantage in this world of remakes. Many people complain about the lack of fresh and original ideas – which no one can deny there’s a serious shortage of - and they grow weary of seeing characters and properties they grew up with torn to shreds and presented as mere shells of what they originally were. While I’m all for keeping the classics intact, shows like Get Smart were well before my time. I have no fond memories of Maxwell Smart because, frankly, I’ve never seen him before. While I can definitely sympathize with the poor fans getting their childhoods torn apart, this is all very new and exciting to me. I hope it’s a solid enough movie to please new fans like myself, as well as fans of the original series.

Check out this clip from the original series.

I have the first season of the original tv show. it is by far the best show created by man. I could not picture a better actor to play Max in the new movie, i loved the movie, Steve did an awsome job, he did not let the max name down.
