Girls Name From Song Titles

As a parent, naming your baby is one of the most important task you will ever undertake. Choosing a baby's name can be the most fun part of expecting a child but it is not an easy task. Sometimes it will take a while to decide.
The name is central to a child's sense of identity, so the worst thing you could do when choosing a name is to rush into it. Settling for a name you are not happy with, may affect you and your child for a lifetime! So never commit yourself to the first name that you'll find. Keep searching until you'll find a name that you truly like.
If you are naming a girl, you can browse on some of your CD or song books and you may find some inspiration from the names of girls that were immortalised in song titles.
The Beatles have songs about women like, Dear Prudence, Lady Madonna, Eleanor Rigby, Julia , just to mention a few. Mandy was a 1974 hit song for Barry Manilow. It was his first number one hit on the Billboard Hot 100. There is Hello Dolly that was popularized by Louis Armstrong. Anya is the Russian form of Anna which means "graceful", has been immortalized by Deep Purple from their 1993 album The Battle Rages.
Here are my Top 5 Girls Name From Song Titles.
1. Chelsea Morning
By: Joni Mitchell 1969.
Woke up, it was a chelsea morning,
And the first thing that I heard
Was a song outside my window
And the traffic wrote the words
It came a-reeling up like christmas bells,
And rapping up like pipes and drums
- The inspiration came from a mobile décor of her apartment. While in Philadelphia, Joni Mitchell and her friends had made a mobile from coloured glass they had found in the street and wire coat hangers, She took hers back to New York and put them in her window on West 16th Street in the Chelsea District, NY. The sun would hit the mobile and send these moving colors all around the room and created the "rainbow on the wall".
2. Annie's Song
You fill up my senses like a night in the forest,
like the mountains in springtime, like a walk in the rain,
like a storm in the desert, like a sleepy blue ocean.
You fill up my senses, come fill me again.
- 1974 hit for John Denver. It was number one song in the USA, occupying that spot for two weeks.
- "Annie's Song" was written as an ode to Denver's wife, Annie Denver. He wrote this song on a ski lift to the top of Bell Mountain in Aspen, Colorado, the feeling of total immersion in the beauty of the colors and sounds that filled all senses inspired him to think about his wife.
- The song has since become a wedding standard and an expression of love for many people, due to its grand imagery and the fact it could apply to anyone (Annie is not mentioned by name in any part of the song).
- Meaning: Annie is a variant of Ann and Hannah. It is of Hebrew origin and its meaning is "favored grace".
3. Michelle
Michelle, ma belle.
These are words that go together well,
My Michelle.
Michelle, ma belle.
Sont des mots qui vont très bien ensemble,
Très bien ensemble.
- "Michelle" is a love ballad, written by Paul McCartney, released in 1965.
- The song departs from most of the Beatles' other recordings, because some of the lyrics are in French.
- The song was a #1 hit in 1966. BMI named "Michelle" in 1999, as the 42nd-most performed song of the 20th century.
- Meaning: Its source is Michael, a Hebrew name meaning "Who resembles God."
4. Aubrey
And Aubrey was her name,
A not so very ordinary girl or name.
But who's to blame?
For a love that wouldn't bloom
For the hearts that never played in tune.
Like a lovely melody that everyone can sing,
Take away the words that rhyme it doesn't mean a thing.
- "Aubrey" by Bread, In Feb 1973, it was #15 Billboard Hot 100 Peak.
- David Gates wrote this song after watching the movie Breakfast At Tiffany's, starring Audrey Hepburn. The song itself had nothing to do with the movie, but moodiness of the film had set him up to write it.
- Meaning: German meaning "noble" or from the French meaning "blond ruler".
.
5. Julia
Half of what I say is meaningless
But I say it just to reach you, Julia
Julia, Julia, oceanchild calls me
So I sing a song of love, Julia
Julia, seashell eyes, windy smile, calls me
So I sing a song of love, Julia
Her hair of floating sky is shimmering, glimmering
In the sun
- "Julia" was written by John Lennon in 1968 and it features John Lennon on vocals and acoustic guitar. It was written during the Beatles' 1968 visit to India,
- "Julia" was written for John's mother Julia Lennon. It was also written for his wife Yoko Ono, whose first name, which literally means "child of the sea" in Japanese, is echoed in lyrics such as "Oceanchild, calls me."
- Meaning: Julia is of Latin origin meaning "youthful".
Select you child's name with love - it is the best gift you can give your child, it is a lifetime gift. Good luck!

I love the song "Aubrey" and had been wondering how that song came out. Thanks for this post now I know it.
My father named me Michelle after the song "Michelle" written by Paul McCartney. He is a huge Beatles fan. He also used to sing the song to me when I was little.
