Interactive posters

In this hub you will read about a fun and simple way to create beautiful interactive virtual posters that you can embed on your sites, blogs and hubs. Glogster is an amazingly friendly site for designing exciting, eye-catching collage type images for any topic. The image on the right of this text is a glog that I created  especially for this hub. It is a static image in hubpages  but you can see the original , interactive glog here.

Glogster Revealed

Glogster is a web 2.0 tool that enables users to create interactive online collages using a simple drag and drop interface. Users combine graphics, photos, videos, music and text into slick posters that are as much fun to design as they are to share.

I was especially attracted to Glogster because I am so non-linear. I am often told that I am all over the place, but that is why it this tool appealed to me. A little ADD, ADHD is a good thing, it makes it easier for me to identify with my students. :) Glogster unleashed my creativity and let me place things WHERE EVER I wanted on the page.

How I Used Glogster for the ABout page

Glogster for About page in my blog.
Glogster for About page in my blog.

My first Glogster Project

For my first Glogster project I decided to design an ABOUT ME page for my blog. It is here  just above this text. You can see the embedded version directly on my website at http://www.coacheng.co.il/about. I used recorded a short audio introduction, added a couple of post it notes talking about what I am working on, a google movie about an amazing product, called Livescribe SmartPen that I am developing content for and will be promoting shortly and of course I added my links to the page, so that when they are clicked visiters are taken directly to the site.

Glogster Explained for Educators

Glogster Tutorial

Although I have been experimenting with Glogster for myself, in my personal and work life, Glogster is a great tool for educators and students to express their creativity by bringing posters to life. Glogster.com/edu, is a NEW addition to the site for all educational needs! This is a tutorial that explains how  teachers can set up accounts for students.

Future of Glogster

When you log in to Glogster you can see messages, how many times your glogs have been viewed and you can also receive feedback on your glogs. You can edit a glog that has already been embedded into a site and it will update dynamically, which makes life really easy.

So glogs are great for educational projects wit students, but you can also use Glogster to promote products, projects or special activities. Above is an example of a glog that I made at the end of our MOODLE WORKSHOP in the college that I teach. I recorded each of the teachers and uploaded their audio to go with their pictures.

Future of Glogster. Glogster is growing fast, very fast and is developing new features all the time. I am pretty sure they will fulfill my wish list of things that I wish Glogster could do such as ability to embed widgets, add a number of links to an image and a quick save button.

TIP: Be sure to save your glog as you work as there is no automatic save feature just yet.

Anway, just as I did with my wordle hub, I would like to invite you to collaborate with me.

If you make a glog and would like to publish it here as well, just send me your file or the link to your glog and I will include you in this page!

Looking forward to hearing from you!

I'm off to check out Glogster. I'd never heard of it before reading your hub but it looks really neat - kind of like interactive scrapbooking? Thanks for sharing.

Hi TigerMadstanley, Wow that was fast!!! Thank you so much for your feedback. Yes, Glogster is very much like interactive scrapbooking, lots of fun. I am collecting a bunch of tips and tricks and will post another hub soon!

Enjoy!

I too enjoy glogster. However I can not use it in my classroom due to the emo selection under graphics. Emo in my region of the US refers to kids cutting themselves. I've wirtten to glogster about this but have not heard anything back from them. I wish they'd remove it so I could have my students use it.

Hi Beth

Thanks for your comment. I follow Glogster on twitter and have had direct contact with them. I'll also mention the EMO issue and maybe together that will help. Have a wonderful school year.
