Caring for Goldfish

Goldfish how many times have you been out & someone starts talking about their goldfish? probably not often, the truth is a substantial proportion of the population have at one time or another owned a goldfish. These normaly small fish probably qualify as the most popular pet ever. Even if they are not often talked about.

Well that time of year is fast aproaching, that time when the local fete's and fairs start to reappear, that time when many kids after an afternoons fun will return home with their first pet, a goldfish.

What to do if your goldfish lays eggs

Today I received a question from someone who was browsing my website about goldfish concerned with what to do if your goldfish start breeding?

This is what he wrote:

I have a small problem.....well I think I have a goldfish that is going to lay eggs....and I don't want the other fish to harm them so what should I do? I have never encountered this before so I have no idea on what to do.......if you can help please let me know ASAP thank you and i hope that you have a great day.....Jonathan

After a little research it became apparent that it's not to big a deal to cut a long story short when you see the eggs remove them to another tank that you fill with water from the main tank then identify & remove the Infertile eggs so they do not contaminate the fertile eggs

Hehe...apparently those people never met me! I'm a goldie nut and have been devoting ever more hundreds of gallons of water to them.

10 gallons per fish is not to extravagant when you consider the average american uses arond 170 per day :)
