Golf tips for making those impossible shots!

Golf tips for making tough shots are always welcomed. Every golfer has experienced the feeling of examining a particular lie, and wondering how in the world are they going to make THAT shot! Fear not, this article will reveal 4 tips for making those awkward shots.

Tip 1) Evaluate The Line Your Club Will Travel

By taking a few practice swings, you will be able to determine the line your club head will travel upon striking the ball. Before taking your stance, check out the distance your club head will travel in a straight line upon contact. Take in to consideration that the ball will stay on the club face for several inches. Adjust your stance accordingly.

Tip 2) Keep Your Feet Still

Typically when faced with an awkward shot, golfers tend to sway back and forth hoping to achieve optimum balance. Unfortunately this movement can cause a golfer to not see the ball clearly. Plant your feet and try a few practice swings. If balance is an issue, keep adjusting your stance until you achieve a balanced practice swing. Be aware of staying as loose as possible during the swing. Tightness in the muscles will affect both the distance and accuracy of the shot..

Tip 3) Watch The Club Head Make Contact With The Ball

Of all the golf tips on making awkward shots, this tip is the MOST important. Certainly, keeping your eye on the ball is crucially important for the success of any golf shot. With awkward shots, this focus must almost e exagerated. Practice actually seeing your club head strike the ball. This exagerated concentration will slow your club head speed, and improve control. In addition, this intense concentration will allow you to focus on the shot, not on the outcome of the shot. Golfers who focus on the outcome of a shot, tend to get "psyched out" by awkward lies.

4) Do Not Let Weather Conditions Affect Your Approach

Weather conditions, particularly the wind, can create LOTS of awkward shots. I have recieved lots of golf tips over the years regarding making golf shots in windy conditions. The "rule of thumb" is to place your feet closer together in windy conditions. The most important rule is to NOT try and hit the ball harder when the wind is in your face. Rather, select one club lower in number for each 20 mph the wind blows. So, for example, you would select a 4 iron, instead of a 5 iron for the distance required if the wind was blowing 20 mph. You would be able to swing normally to achieve the required distance.

Hopefully these tips will improve your confidence when faced with awkward shots. I have additional golf tips on teaching kids to play golf, and how to achieve perfect balance with your golf swing, as well. I also will reveal a little known secret for almost immediately increasing the distance on your shots! Check them out!
