PAGE 1: "Mugabe's wife given immunity over assault"

According to a Department of Justice statement, "Grace Mugabe is not liable to arrest or detention and is immune from prosecution". But why? It sure seemed like she committed a serious offence. According to the SCMP, "She is accused of repeatedly punching Richard Jones and drawing blood, thanks to a gold-encrusted ring she wore".

Implications/Analysis/Comments/Remarks: This is at least common assault

"Jones, a Hong Kong permanent resident and chief photographer for photographic agency Sinopix, was taking pictures of her shopping in Tsim Sha Tsui".

Implications/Analysis/Comments/Remarks: This is a mundane activity that anyone could have taken a picture of. So why did Mugabe hit Jones?

"Bona Mugabe is (allegedly) a university student in Hong Kong".

Implications/Analysis/Comments/Remarks: There were rumors about this person being enrolled at both the University of Hong and the City University of Hong Kong, neither of which are credible.

Jones' reaction: "This is the first time I have heard of it. I am very disappointed, but I am not surprised".

Implications/Analysis/Comments/Remarks: OK so now the Hong Kong government loves China...and Zimbabwe because Zimbabwe's president, Robert Mugabe, is also tyrannical like Donald Tsang.

PAGE 2: "Advisers censured for failure to discuss ex-housing chief's job"

According to Lau Kong-wah, a DAB legislator and an executive councillor, "Why didn't the advisory committee hold some meetings to discuss the application? It was an important matter, but it concerned SOMEONE'S RIGHT TO EMPLOYMENT and public perception about the issue. Is it appropriate for the advisory committee to assess ONLY BY CIRCULATING THE PAPERS?"

Implications/Analysis/Comments/Remarks: OK, Mr. Chief Executive, one of your pro-China colleagues has spoken out against you. How do you respond?

"Permanent Secretary for the Civil Service Andrew Wong said there were no fixed rules regarding how the advisory committee should handle the applications. It was up to the chairman of the advisory committee to decide how it should operate, he added".

Implications/Analysis/Comments/Remarks: Donald Tsang likes Andrew Wong because Andrew Wong loves China UNCONDITIONALLY and therefore, Wong can do whatever he wants and however he wants, with no legal ramifications/restrictions.

According to Democratic vice-chairman Lee Wing-tat, chairman of the investigation, "Every member of the public would want to know if Mr. Leung's contract (truly) involved conflicts of interest. It is difficult to understand why you did not raise doubts after you went through all the documents and media reports".

"In response, Mr. Wong admitted that HE HAD NOT DONE A THOROUGH JOB as he failed to take into account the ex-housing chief's involvement in the Hunghom Peninsula affair when assessing the application".

Implications/Analysis/Comments/Remarks: Again this is farcical, based on what Donald Tsang PERCEIVES China wants him to do, but since Chinese president Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao have said nothing, because this is a Hong Kong issue, Tsang has gone ahead and ruled with an iron fist as he has always done since coming to power in 2005. If, in fact, Leung's case did not involve any conflicts of interest, Donald Tsang would have lied again and if that happens, his popularity will most likely plunge down to around 'George W Bush levels' when Bush left office a few months ago (yes, it's entirely possible that Donald Tsang will plunge further from around 40% to below 30% if he continues to act the way he has been acting). In fact there is a saying that 'If you failed to fight about it months or years ago, let it go' and this makes sense because it is often counterproductive to argue about something that happened YEARS AGO, especially if the issue is/involves money like it does in this case. Basically, the Hong Kong government can scream until the cows come home and it won't help. Leung has been gone from the government now for 3 years so what are the chances that they will get any money for screaming for the past 3 years about Leung's new role at New World (Holdings)? Almost zero. So, Donald Tsang and his cronies should put thiis issue out of their minds and find some other more recent issues to annoy the public about (e.g. universal suffrage).
