Arguably one of the biggest game releases of the year was Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto IV. It was the highly anticipated sequel to GTA: San Andreas, which broke many industry records on its own. GTA IV sold more than 3.6 million copies in its first day of release; it has sold more than 10 million since its release in April 2008. On most gaming sites, it is considered the highest ranking game of all time. Most gaming magazines, web sites and other media rated it the best of the best in the video game category.

Grand Theft Auto IV sought to revolutionize the first person shooter in such a way to leave the competition behind. In many ways, GTA IV far surpassed even Rockstar's innovations. The entire scope of game play is changed, the map itself can take days to cross, and the attention to detail in Liberty City will take your breath away. In addition to the redesign of actual game play, a multiplayer network of game play was added.

While GTA: San Andreas offered multiplayer, Rockstar worked with Xbox Live and the Playstation Network to bring a way to connect players through the online community. This gives players all over the US and elsewhere the chance to interact with one another, complete missions together and even explore the landscape of Liberty City in ways never thought possible. GTA IV seeks to bring all aspects of online gaming to the fingertips of players.

Grand Theft Auto IV has proven itself in the eyes of critics, gamers and those on the sidelines alike. It is rare in the video game industry to find a game so highly rated and accepted by the masses at large. GTA IV brings a new dynamic to the next generation console scheme and for anyone still waiting to invest in a Playstation 3 or Xbox 360, GTA IV is the game to make the investment for.
