What's the story behind GTA: IV?
You play as Niko Bellic, and you are back in Liberty City. For those familiar with past GTA games, Liberty City is a whole new ball game. The entire city was redesigned, adding buildings, redesigning exteriors and creating interiors for most of the city left to our imaginations in previous incarnations. Liberty City consists of four boroughs, similar to that of New York City, and can be visited once certain parts of the game are unlocked.
The sandbox aspect of GTA IV has been expanded as well, allowing not only for you to damage buildings but to actually take on physical damage yourself. Niko will be affected by nearby gunfire, being hit by a car or even by drinking alcohol. Even breaking into a car is no longer as simple as it used to be, you have to actually steal the car by hotwiring it, and if you fail, you have no wheels.
Downloadable content, for both versions of the game, are under development and will allow for further changes to game play. The online component allows you to team up with other players to complete missions and take part in 15 different modes of play. It also allows for a free range mode where you can explore Liberty City with other users and do whatever it is you want to do.
Is GTA: IV worth it?
GTA IV is the future of video games. With a wide open world, a fully controllable character system and the ability to interact over the Internet with other players, Grand Theft Auto IV creates a virtual world of mayhem, destruction and devastation. While a game of this nature is not for everyone, especially those underage, for those who enjoy a completely immersed video game experience, look no further than GTA IV. Be a part of the next generation of gaming, and give it a shot today!
