What are Projector Connections?
73
Buying a projector for home or office use is a big step. Projectors are now used as part of the overall home theater experience as well as to give killer presentations all over the world. No matter what you decide to use your projector for, knowing just a little bit about them before you make the purchase is key to finding the right unit for your use.
Projectors take video signals and projects them onto a screen through a lens. A bright light built inside the unit allows for the images to display over a distance. Think of a movie screen and how films are displayed from the projector booth behind you. This is similar to how a smaller unit projector displays images, movies and presentations.
Most projectors come in SVGA or XGA resolutions. However, in the last year or so, higher resolutions in the high-definition range have been introduced. Projectors can now produce a 1080p resolution with ease which is one of the biggest turn ons for somebody looking to use the unit as a home theater piece.
When it comes to the price of a projector, that is generally determined by the resolution it is capable of as well as the type of light input being used. Acoustics, contrast and other company-related characteristics all factor into the price of the overall unit, cables and corresponding screens needed for complete use.
If you think a projector is right for your home or office, then comparing units and finding the right fit is essential during the purchase process. Determine the amount of space you want to use for your projector screen, then decide what type of experience you are going for. If you are looking to create a home theater room in your home, perhaps going with a higher resolution, better light output model, would be the best. If you are looking for a unit to house presentations in your small office, a cheaper, lower resolution model might be a good fit.
Take the time to research your options, shop around and use the space you want to house the projector to help determine which one is right for you. Educating yourself is the first step in finding the right projector for your needs. Once you find it, you will be amazed at what it can do for your home or office.

RichterScale:
Depending on the amount of data being transferred and what the VGA cable is capable of, it should be able to sustain a higher quality transfer between devices over that length. What type of VGA cable is it exactly? D'you know how many GB of data it is meant to transfer?
Is there a way to connect a projector to a PS3 or PS2..

That's pretty cool. Can I run a 200' VGA cable from my computer in the sound booth to my projector near the stage, or does the cable experience too much loss of signal over that distance?
